Pediatric Intensive Care RN

Overview

Travel assignment in Alexandria, Louisiana
13-week contract
36 hours per week
6-bed Pediatric Intensive Care unit
50 mile radius required

Required Qualifications

Valid RN license in Louisiana
PICU - Pediatric Intensive Care (1 year of experience)
PICU - Pediatric Intensive Care experience within the last year
ACLS
BLS
PALS
Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing

Preferred Qualifications

PICU experience
NICU experience
Experience in other women’s health areas, including labor and delivery and ob/gyn

Unit Details

Day shift staffing: 1 charge nurse and 1 RN/LPN
Night shift staffing: 1 charge nurse and 1 RN/LPN
Patient ratio: 1:1-2
EMR: Meditech
Equipment includes Alaris IV pump, Bair hugger, Kangaroo Feeding Pump, Giraffe infant warmer, ventilators, BiPap, and High Flow O2

Common Procedures / Clinical Work

Spinal taps
Titration of critical drips: sedation, vasoactive, paralytic
Sedated MRI
EKG, EEG, Telemetry
Port access and discontinuation
Intubation and extubation

Floating

May float to NICU for low acuity patients or to Nursery
May float to Ob/gyn if qualified

Schedule

Rotating weekends
May work mixed day, night, and weekend schedule to fill scheduling holes as needed
