Unit Profile

• Unit Name: Med-Surg (2N)
• Number of Beds: 27
• Patient Ratios: 5:1 (may change to 6:1)
• Equipment Used: Tele monitoring, bladder scans, SCDs, CPAP/BiPAP, Baxter IV pumps, Hoyer lift, PCAs, Doppler, EKG
• Electronic Health Record (EHR): Paragon

Qualifications

• Required Certifications: ACLS, BLS, Handle with Care
• Years of Experience: 1+ years
• Must Have Skills/Experience: MST experience
• Preferred Skillset/Experience: Experience in med-surg, ER, or ICU
• Common Diagnoses/Treatments: GI bleeds, chest pain, bowel resections, stroke, CHF/COPD exacerbations, respiratory failure, UTIs, post-operative total joint
• Personality Fit: Team-oriented, positive demeanor, task-oriented
• Required Education: Certification/licensure needed to work as an RN in North Carolina

Additional Information

• Orientation: Twice monthly
• Dress Code: Any solid color scrubs; no open-toe shoes or casual wear
• Float Requirements: Only during times of low census, which is rare; if floated, would assist in other units as a sitter or tasker.
