Job Opportunity: Scientist - Lab (Travel)

Location: Bossier City, Louisiana

Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Summary

Perform routine and complex laboratory procedures including specimen processing, testing patient specimens, quality control, instrument operation and maintenance, and assisting in developing new procedures. May perform phlebotomy and other patient-oriented tasks.

Work Schedule

• 7 days on / 7 days off
• Days: Wednesday to Tuesday
• Wednesday-Friday: 9:00 AM – 7:00 PM
• Saturday-Tuesday: 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM

Required Qualifications

Education & Experience

• Bachelor’s Degree or higher in chemical, physical, biological, or clinical laboratory science or medical technology from an accredited institution, or equivalent laboratory training meeting CLIA requirements.
• No experience required for graduates of an approved clinical laboratory training program.
• OR 1 year of approved clinical laboratory experience including clinical rotations in Blood Banking, Microbiology, Chemistry, Hematology, Immunology, and Urinalysis/Body Fluids within the last 5 years.
• Required years of experience: 1 year

Licenses & Certifications

• Certification as MT, MLS, CLS, or MLT from ASCP, AMT, AAB, or HEW/HHS.
• Certification must be current and maintained if it has an expiration date.
• Louisiana State Licensure required.
• New graduates must be board certified or eligible (must complete board certification within 1 year of hire; Louisiana excluded).

Responsibilities

• Perform all routine and complex laboratory procedures in assigned sections.
• Operate, maintain, troubleshoot, and perform minor repairs on laboratory instruments.
• Cross-train in other laboratory sections as needed.
• Follow quality control programs and document critical laboratory values.
• Process patient specimens with attention to pediatric specimen volume requirements.
• Participate in evaluation and implementation of new testing procedures.
• Provide patient care in a manner that meets population-specific and developmental needs.
• Adhere to organizational core values and complete all compliance and regulatory tasks.

Additional Information

• No on-call requirement.
• Full-time position.
