Unit: Medical Intensive Care Unit (MICU)
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Unit Information

• Number of Beds: 35
• Number of Staff: 94
• Shift Staffing:

  • Day Shift: 1 Charge Nurse (CNC), 1 Patient Care Technician (PCT), up to 19 RNs (dependent on census)
  • Night Shift: 1 Charge Nurse (CNC), 1 PCT, up to 19 RNs (dependent on census)
• Patient Ratios: 1:2
• Equipment Used: EVDs, ventilators, EV1000, rapid infusers, Ceribell
• Electronic Medical Record (EMR): Meditech

Required Qualifications

• Specialty: Registered Nurse (RN) in ICU
• Years of Experience: Minimum 2 years ICU experience (higher requirement from description)
• Certifications:

  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
  • BLS (Basic Life Support)
  • NIH Certification
• Licenses: Registered Nurse License

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in neurological, trauma, or cardiac ICU
• Experience as a preceptor and/or charge nurse

Typical Procedures Performed

• Central line, hemodialysis (HD), arterial line (a-line) insertion
• Wound care
• Post-neurological intervention care

• Floating Areas: SICU, CVU, PCU, ED holds (ICU patients)
• Dress Code: Navy blue scrubs
• Weekends/On Call: Every other weekend (day shift covers Saturday/Sunday; night shift covers Friday/Saturday)
