Job Opportunity: Respiratory Therapist (Travel)
Location: Milwaukee, Wisconsin
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Details
- Employment Type: Travel
- Shift: 12-hour night shifts (18:30 - 07:00)
- Hours: Guaranteed 36 hours per week
- Weekend Rotation: Every other weekend, occasionally every third weekend
- Holiday Rotation: May be scheduled for holidays if necessary
- Float Requirements: Primarily PICU and NICU; may float to general med/surg acute care units and EDTC
- Call Requirements: No on-call or call-back required
- Charting System: Epic Clin Doc preferred
Required Qualifications
- License: Wisconsin Respiratory Therapist license (or eligible for Act 10 temporary licensure)
- Certification:
- NBRC Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential required
- AHA BLS
- AHA PALS
- NRP
- Education: Associate Degree (AD) in Respiratory Therapy or related field
- Experience:
- Minimum 3-5 years pediatric critical care or NICU experience
- Must be able to function in PICU and Level IV NICU settings
- Prior Travel Experience: Not explicitly required
Required Skills and Responsibilities
- Experience managing respiratory care patients including vent management, intubations, extubations, suctioning, and treatments
- Proficient with ventilators such as Servo I and Servo u, LTV's, Astral, Trilogy, Oscillators
- Knowledge of invasive and non-invasive ventilation modes including CPAP, BiPaP, RAM cannula, NAVA ventilation, PEP, INO
- Comfortable working in a 24-bed pediatric cardiac ICU, 24-bed pediatric medical ICU, 24-bed pediatric surgical ICU, and 70-bed Level IV NICU
- Ability to work with trach patients
- Collaborate with 2-4 respiratory care practitioners depending on unit census
Additional Information
- Scrub colors: Any professional scrubs allowed
- Jewelry: One small nose stud permitted; no other visible piercings except ears
- Flu vaccine is mandatory with no exemptions allowed
This position offers a guaranteed schedule with set hours per week, except during holidays when the unit may be closed or during orientation week.
