Job Description

• Provide nursing care in a 24-bed ICU unit with a 1:2 RN-to-patient staffing ratio.
• Patient population includes acute stroke management, subarachnoid hemorrhage, post-neurosurgical and endovascular management, seizure and status epilepticus management, Guillain-Barre syndrome, myasthenia gravis, and other critically ill neuroscience patients.
• Required skills include management of NIHSS, lumbar puncture, ventriculostomy, ICP management, arterial and central lines, various cranial drains, mechanical ventilation, intravenous drips (pain, sedation, vasopressors), temperature management (hypo- and hyperthermia protocols), and Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy (CRRT).
• Floating required between Neuroscience ICU (NSICU) and Surgical ICU (SICU).
• Dress code: Solid black or white uniforms for nurses.
• Must pass EKG and Pharmacology exams during compliance process before start.

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in North Carolina (Compact license accepted)
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
• Minimum 1 year of ICU nursing experience, including Neurosciences ICU and Surgical Intensive Care Unit (SICU) experience within the last year
• Certifications: ACLS and BLS issued by the American Heart Association
• NIHSS Stroke Certification and NIHSS-related nursing management experience
• Experience in a tertiary care facility preferred
• Proficient in lumbar puncture management, ventriculostomy management, cranial drain management, mechanical ventilation management, temperature management using hypo- and hyperthermia protocols, and Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy (CRRT) management
