Registered Nurse - ICU

Job Description

• Work in a 24-bed ICU unit with a 1:2 RN-to-patient staffing ratio
• Patient population includes acute stroke management, subarachnoid hemorrhage, post-neurosurgical and endovascular management, seizure and status epilepticus management, Guillain-Barre syndrome, myasthenia gravis, and other critically ill neuroscience patients
• Required skills include management of NIHSS, lumbar puncture, ventriculostomy, intracranial pressure (ICP), arterial and central lines, various cranial drains, and mechanical ventilation
• Experience with intravenous drips common in ICU settings such as pain management, sedation, vasopressors, etc.
• Temperature management protocols for hypo- and hyperthermia
• Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy (CRRT) experience required
• Floating between Neuroscience ICU (NSICU) and Surgical ICU (SICU) with equal or lesser care areas
• No blocked scheduling; 12-hour day/night shifts with 36 hours per two-week pay period (every other week schedule)
• Dress code: Solid black or white uniforms for nurses

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in North Carolina
• Neuro ICU experience of at least 1 year, including experience within the last year
• One completed travel assignment
• ACLS certification
• BLS certification
• NIHSS Stroke Certification
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
