Pros
Unionized hospital, nurses are friendly & helpful in every ICU, very accommodating when needing to call out sick
Cons
Float to another unit almost every other shift, very very high cost of living with very little housing/rental accommodations available, city/buildings/rentals are old and dusty and worn down, hospital / policies are outdated and old, poor communication (never alerting before shift when floating to another unit, getting patient admissions with no warning or report, multiple instances of having to transfer a patient urgently with no warning or preparation, poor communication between medical specialties consulting on the same patient), as a travel nurse you have to pay for parking (even at night) or park 3-5 blocks away or shuttle to the hospital (and sometimes the shuttle isn’t running…), blizzard conditions and freezing cold temps in the winter (in a small city with very narrow steep roads and little parking options, your car will be covered in a 4-8ft snow drift with no way to get to work or drive)
