Job Opportunity: Telemetry Nurse

Location: Greenville, North Carolina
Employment Type: Long Term Contract (13 weeks)

Unit Details

• 48-bed telemetry unit
• Staffing Ratios:

  • RN to Patient: 1:4
  • Nursing Assistant to Patient: 1:8 (can increase to 1:5 or 1:6 if needed)
• Scheduling: Self-scheduling
• Primary Patient Population:

  • Adults with hematologic or oncologic concerns
  • Immunocompromised patients
  • Radiation complications
  • Cardiac arrhythmia
  • Complex fluid and medication management
  • Single and multi-system complications

Work Schedule

• 3 out of 4 holidays worked within a 6-week schedule
• 6 weekend shifts within a 6-week schedule
• Shift: 12N (12-hour day shifts)
• 36 hours of guaranteed work every other week (GWW EOW)

Required Skills and Certifications

• Must be able to read and interpret cardiac strips (cardiac rhythm analysis required)
• EPIC electronic health record system experience
• ONS (Oncology Nursing Society) certification preferred
• Must pass EKG and Pharmacology exams during compliance process (pre-start)

Clinical Skills Utilized

• Administering chemotherapy
• Continuous infusion medication management
• Pain management
• Wound vac dressing changes and wound drains
• Care for central lines, tracheotomy patients, chest tubes
• IV start skills, peripheral lab draws, arterial blood draws
• Management of various intravenous drips including cardiac, insulin, and heparin
• Cardiac monitoring (unit is not monitored by monitor techs; nurses analyze rhythms)

Additional Information

• Use of ancillary staff is available
• All time off must be negotiated prior to confirmation
• Must be willing to work within an 80-mile radius of the facility
