Required Qualifications

Active RN license
BLS
ACLS
NIHSS
Minimum 1 year of experience
First-time travelers accepted
Driver’s license required at submittal
Must pass an open-book skills exam during orientation with a score of 90% or higher

Preferred Qualifications

Oncology experience preferred
Current ONS/ONCC preferred
Chemotherapy certification preferred

Unit Details

Adult oncology PCU and trauma PCU patient population
18 beds
Nurse-to-patient ratio: 1:4 to 1:5
Travelers float to other med/surg and PCU units at the same level of care

Schedule and Orientation

Self-scheduling, balanced to unit needs
Two days of unit orientation

Clinical Skills and Equipment

May titrate insulin and Cardizem drips
Common medications/drips include chemotherapy, heparin, Cardizem, and Protonix
High-flow respiratory support may be encountered
EMR: Epic
IV pumps: Alaris

Support

Nursing assistants
Charge nurse
PT/OT
RN case manager
Social worker
Educator
Dietitian

Workplace Notes

Artificial nails are prohibited in patient care areas
Hourly rounding and bedside shift report are emphasized
