NIHSS
Driver’s license required at submittal
Must pass an open-book exam during orientation with a score of 90% or higher

Assignment Details

22-bed unit
Nurse-to-patient ratio: 1:4
Common patient types include heart failure, Afib, respiratory distress, and stroke
RNs are required to titrate drips
Common drips include Cardizem, amiodarone, and nitro
Charge nurse takes a full patient assignment
Nursing support available: 1:10 nurse aide/patient care tech ratio
RNs must read and interpret telemetry strips
CPAP equipment is used on the unit
Shift times: 0630-1900 and 1830-0700
Cyclic scheduling
Weekend requirement: every other weekend
Holiday requirement: 1 major and 1 minor
Floating: may float to ICU if appropriate and experienced
Orientation: 1 twelve-hour shift in the department

Additional Notes

Fast-paced unit with many admits and discharges
Artificial nails are prohibited in patient care areas
Candidates may not be full time, part time, or PRN with any facility associated with CommonSpirit, including CHI and/or Dignity
RTO must be submitted upfront; additional RTO will not be approved
