Labor & Delivery RN Opportunity - Show Low, Arizona
Job Details
- Location: Show Low, Arizona
- Contract Length: 13 weeks
- Shift: 12-hour night shifts (6 PM - 6 AM), 3 shifts per week
- Weekend Requirement: Minimum 3 weekend shifts per 4-week schedule (flexible as long as coverage is maintained)
- Orientation: Every Monday
- Start Date: ASAP
Unit Information
- 7 Labor & Delivery beds
- 2 Triage beds
- 10 Postpartum beds
- Approximately 1-3 births per day (~830 births per year)
- Nurse-to-patient ratio typically 1:2
- Respiratory Therapist available 24/7
- Support staff includes Patient Care Technicians, Health Unit Secretaries, OB scrub techs, and Health Unit Coordinators
- Nurse manager may occasionally see patients
- 24/7 in-house pharmacy
- OB/Neonatologist not in-house
Requirements
- Active Arizona or compact nursing license
- Minimum 3 years of Labor & Delivery nursing experience
- C-section experience required
- Certifications required:
- ACLS
- BLS
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
- Intermediate or Advanced Fetal Monitoring (AWHONN)
- Proficiency in fetal monitoring and managing fetal distress
- Ability to care for high-risk patients, including those with pre-eclampsia
- Strong assessment skills to manage OB emergencies until provider arrival
- Ability to function in both Labor & Delivery and couplet care settings
- May float to Emergency Department or Medical-Surgical units if experienced
- Call requirement: one shift per 4-week schedule
Additional Notes
- Nurses must be comfortable handling high-risk OB patients due to absence of in-house OB/Neonatologist
- Floating to other hospital units may be required, usually to MedSurg
- Supportive team environment with various ancillary staff available
- Orientation and scheduling are structured to provide guaranteed hours with no cancellations
This position offers a chance to work in a regional hospital setting with a supportive team and a variety of clinical experiences in Labor & Delivery nursing.
