Position Overview

• Role: Operating Room Registered Nurse (OR RN)
• Location: Omaha, Nebraska
• Setting: 4-bed outpatient Surgery Center with a main OR of 10 beds
• Cases: Wide variety with emphasis on Orthopedics; includes general surgery, laparoscopic, GYN, GU/Cysto, ortho, neuro, plastics, eye, ENT, thoracic, endoscopy, and pediatric emergencies
• Patient Care: Most outpatient cases; some require overnight transfer to the floor
• Experience: Must have Level 1 trauma experience and proficiency in all service lines (3's and 4's in all areas)
• Recovery room experience preferred but not required

Required Certifications

• BLS (Basic Life Support)
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)

Experience Requirements

• Specialty: OR RN with Level 1 trauma experience
• Years of Experience: Minimum 3 years in all service lines (including trauma)
• Prior Travel Experience: Not explicitly required

Work Environment & Tools

• EMR System: EPIC
• Equipment: DaVinci Robot x3, stealth, o-arm, holmium lasers
• Scrub Color: Green scrubs provided by hospital

Scheduling & Shifts

• Shift Lengths: 8 and 12 hours
• Shift Times: 06:30-15:00, 06:30-19:00, 18:30-07:00
• Scheduling: Self-scheduling with cyclic schedule based on department needs
• Call Requirements:

  • Weeknight: 1 call per week (4 hours after shift)
  • Weekend: Call rotation every 5 weeks (Fri evening to Sun evening)
  • Holiday: Rotation between in-house and second call teams
• Floating: No floating outside of OR

Orientation & Training

• Orientation Length: 1 week of unit/department-specific orientation
• Exam: Pass/fail open book exam during orientation; 90% required to pass

Additional Requirements & Policies

• Radius Rule: Must live within 50 miles; cannot be employed full-time, part-time, or PRN with any facility associated with CommonSpirit (including CHI and Dignity)
• Driver’s license required at submission
• Fingernail Policy: Artificial nails prohibited; refusal to comply results in contract termination
• Contract Length: 13 weeks

This position is ideal for experienced OR RNs with strong trauma skills looking for a diverse surgical caseload in a supportive outpatient and main OR environment.
