Registered Nurse (Behavioral Health)

Location: Soldotna, Alaska
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Position Summary

Responsible for implementing and supervising nursing services in medical detoxification and residential behavioral health programs.

Essential Functions

• Implement nursing care according to program procedures, including administering medications, treatments, inoculations, and tests as allowed by law.
• Execute verbal provider orders and document them timely in patient records.
• Communicate effectively with physicians, physician assistants, nurse practitioners, nurses, and pharmacists.
• Oversee detox patient admission process, including pre-screening, TB screening, physical assessments, health history, and managing patients’ personal possessions.
• Administer prescribed treatments and medical interventions, including routine and prescribed medications.
• Accurately record patient observations and activities in patient records.
• Provide compassionate care to encourage patient engagement in treatment post-detoxification.
• Maintain a safe and sanitary environment using medical asepsis, infection control techniques, and universal precautions.
• Implement safety and emergency procedures during drills and disasters, assisting patients in detox and residential programs.
• Provide patient education on health care as appropriate.
• Follow all policies and procedures regarding patient information protection.
• Attend scheduled staff meetings and required chemical dependency training.
• Maintain current knowledge of clinical procedures and nursing care per company policy and state/federal guidelines.

Required Qualifications

• Education:

  • Associate's Degree in Nursing (Required)
  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (Preferred)

• Experience:

  • Minimum 1 year of experience in addiction treatment (Preferred)

• Licensure & Certification:

  • Registered Nurse (RN) license in Alaska (Required)
  • BLS (CPR) Certification (Required)

Additional Notes

• Assignment allows call-offs up to 24 hours in a 13-week contract without penalty.
• Work schedule includes 12-hour days.
• Overtime paid after 8 hours per day and 40 hours per week.
