Registered Nurse (RN) – MedSurg/Telemetry (4th Floor)
Location: Prescott, Arizona
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Unit Overview
- Unit Type: Telemetry, Surgical/Neuro
- Beds: 48 (two units: 4A and 4B)
- Nurse-to-Patient Ratio: 1:5
- Nurse Aide Ratio: 1:10-15
- Telemetry monitored remotely; Telemetry techs on 3rd floor read and post strips
- RNs interpret telemetry strips and sign at least once per shift
- Charge Nurse does not take patient assignments
- Floating: May float to East Campus and possibly PCU if qualified

- Transient Ischemic Attack (TIA)
- Cerebrovascular Accident (CVA)
- General, orthopedic, and spinal surgical patients
Required Certifications
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
Experience & Skills
- Reading basic telemetry strips
- Experience with general and orthopedic surgical patients, CVA, and TIA
- Cerner experience recommended (only one day of orientation provided)
- RNs are not required to titrate drips
- Common titratable/set rate drip: Diltiazem (set rate)
Equipment Used
- Bipap
- Cpap
- High flow oxygen
- Some breathing treatments
Scheduling & Shifts
- Shift Length: 12 hours (7:00 AM – 7:30 PM) with 30-minute unpaid lunch
- Scheduling: Self-scheduling for 4 weeks, finalized by manager
- Weekend Requirement: 2 weekends per 4-week schedule
- Holiday Requirement: Work 2 days and 1 evening or 2 evenings and 1 day during Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year’s Eve, New Year’s Day, and Thanksgiving Day
- Call/Standby: None
Orientation
- Unit-specific orientation: 1 shift on the unit
Dress Code
- Navy blue scrubs
Required Qualifications
- Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing
- BLS and ACLS certifications
- Experience reading telemetry strips and caring for MedSurg/Telemetry patients as described above
Notes
- Prior travel experience is not specified as required.
- Floating to other units may be required based on qualifications.

Traveler friendly, good ratios, great scheduling, decent providers, Uses tiger text to communicate with most doctors. Plenty of hiking activities. Close to Sedona, Flagstaff and Phoenix. 5:1 Med/tele and 3:1 PCU.
Cons
Cost of living is High, roughly $2000-2500 for your own private space. Float between East and West Campus, 25 minutes apart, west will likely be where you spend 75% of your shifts so pick your housing accordingly.
