Travel RN Opportunity - Medical Telemetry / IMC

Location: Portland, Maine

Position Details

• Specialty: Medical Telemetry, Intermediate Care (IMC)
• Employment Type: Travel
• Shift: Day and Night shifts available
• Weekly Hours: 36 hours guaranteed
• Weekend Requirement: Weekend contract (Friday-Sunday or Saturday-Monday)
• Call Requirements: None
• Contract Length: 13 weeks

Experience Requirements

• Years of Experience: Minimum 2 years in specialty (Medical Telemetry / IMC)
• Prior Travel Experience: Not explicitly required

Job Responsibilities & Float Requirements

• IMC RNs may float to other IMC units or med/surg units as needed
• Med/surg RNs may float to other med/surg units with similar level of care
• Floating depends on unit needs and RN skill level

Required Skills & Certifications

• Certifications: BLS required
• Skills:

  • Experience with ventilators (for IMC RNs)
  • Experience with tracheostomy care
  • Ability to read and interpret telemetry strips

Unit & Patient Information

• Unit Beds: 43
• Patient Ratios:

  • Med/Surg Day Shift: 1:4-5
  • Med/Surg Night Shift: 1:5-6
  • IMC Day & Night: 1:3
• Patient Types: Respiratory, Medical Telemetry, surgical cases, sepsis, DKA, altered mental status, failure to thrive, respiratory failure, and various acute on chronic medical conditions
• Equipment Used: Ventilators, BiPaP, CPAP, nasal cannula, non-rebreather masks, epidural pumps, IV pumps, specialty beds, PCA pumps, VAC dressings, trach care/maintenance
• EMR System: Epic

This position is ideal for RNs with solid experience in medical telemetry and intermediate care who are comfortable floating between units and managing complex respiratory and acute medical patients.
