Registered Nurse - Behavioral Health

Location: Holyoke, Massachusetts
Employment Type: Travel
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Summary

As a Behavioral Health Registered Nurse (RN), you will provide direct and indirect patient care through the nursing process, including assessment, planning, intervention, and evaluation. You will develop nursing care plans in coordination with patients, families, and interdisciplinary staff. Communication of changes in patient condition to physicians, nursing supervisors/managers, and co-workers is essential. Participation in discharge planning is also required.

Shift: Days (7 AM - 7 PM)
Weekly Guaranteed Hours: 36
Weekend Hours: Every other weekend
Call Requirements: None

Number of Beds: 104 beds across five units (adult, child, geriatric)
Patient Ratios: Approximately 1:8 (lower ratios for geriatric and pediatric patients)
Patient Population: Geriatric, pediatric (ages 5-17), and adult patients
Common Diagnoses/Treatments: Schizophrenia, depression, bipolar disorder, substance use disorder, anxiety
Electronic Health Record (EHR): Cerner
Supervision: Shift supervisors only
Scrub Color: Blue

Required Qualifications

Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Massachusetts
Minimum 1 year of psychiatric nursing experience, including experience within the last year
Experience in an inpatient psychiatric or behavioral health setting
BLS certification
Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)

No block scheduling
Must be able to float between units
Personality fit: Must be comfortable working with diverse behavioral health populations including adults and children
