Registered Nurse (RN) - Med Surg Telemetry
Location: Reno, Nevada
Employment Type: Travel Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Summary
Provide comprehensive nursing care to adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients in a telemetry unit. The role involves assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of patient care, focusing on optimal patient outcomes throughout the episode of care. The position requires coordination with other healthcare professionals and delivering care in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment.
Unit Description
- Patient population includes treatment of CHF, Alcohol Withdrawal, NSTEMI, sepsis, dysrhythmias, pneumonia, COPD, COVID-19, and post-procedure care (pacemakers, ablations, cath lab, and post-ICU cardiac surgery patients).
- Medications include non-titratable cardiac drips such as Cardizem, Lasix, Nitro, etc.
- May float to Intensive Care Units, medical-surgical units, or other appropriate assignments based on competency.
- The environment is extremely busy and fast-paced, comparable to a Level I trauma center.
Work Schedule & Requirements
- Shift: 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (days)
- Weekly guaranteed hours: 36
- No call requirements, but may be required to work major holidays and pick up an additional shift during the schedule period.
- Floating to other units may be required up to competency level.
- Schedule may include weekends, holidays, and some call shifts.
- The employer reserves the right to reduce shifts with 48 hours’ notice for low census during the contract.
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Nevada
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Minimum 2 years of Med Surg / Telemetry nursing experience, including experience within the last year
- Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS
Patient Population
- Adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients with complex cardiac and medical conditions requiring telemetry monitoring and specialized nursing care.

- The position demands intensive continuous mental effort for safe patient care and sound clinical judgment.
- Emphasis on patient-centered care in a multidisciplinary team environment.
- The facility serves a large geographic area and is a Level II Trauma Center with stroke accreditation.
