Registered Nurse (NICU) - Travel Assignment

Location: Portland, Maine
Employment Type: Travel
Contract Length: 26 weeks (approximately 6 months)
Shift: 36 hours per week, rotating day/night shifts, every other weekend

Job Description

• Support a 31-bed Level III/IV NICU, a 20-bed Level II NICU, and a 10-bed Level II NICU satellite.
• The NICU is currently operating beyond staffed capacity, with a census of 61+ patients across three physical locations (NICU1 & 2, SCU1 satellite, and Prenatal Center).
• Temporary construction will close 6 beds in NICU2 and add 6 beds in the Prenatal Center, increasing operational complexity.
• Staffing requires a minimum of 29 RNs to cover high census and acuity.
• Travelers will help maintain nurse-to-patient ratios, offset leave of absences, and support safe, high-quality neonatal care during construction and census surge.
• Orientation period of 2-3 days before assuming assignments.

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Maine
• Minimum of 1 year of Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) experience within the last year
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
