Job Opportunity: Step Down Registered Nurse
Location: Auburn, New York
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Night (3 shifts per week, 12 hours each; 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM)

Job Description
- Position is for a Step Down Registered Nurse on a night shift schedule.
- Nurses are responsible for telemetry patient care, including independent measurement and interpretation of telemetry strips and cardiac rhythms.
- On the first day of orientation, nurses must pass a telemetry assessment (minimum 80%) covering cardiac rhythm interpretation, arrhythmia identification, and clinical interventions. Remediation is provided if needed.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in New York State with primary source verification prior to start.
- Minimum of 1 year of Progressive Care Unit (PCU) experience within the last year.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association.
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
- Orientation Safety Manual Acknowledgement.
Compliance and Background Requirements
- Unexpired government-issued photo ID (e.g., driver’s license or state ID).
- Background check within 1 year covering all locations lived/worked/schooled in the past 7 years; must be complete before start.
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required prior to start.
- Nursys verification prior to start.
- Facility-specific documents must be reviewed and signed, including:
- Code of Conduct
- Patient Abuse Reporting
- Confidentiality and Non-Disclosure Agreement
- Orientation Packet Acknowledgement
- Automated Dispensing Cabinet Security (required for Pyxis access)
- Annual Tuberculosis screening questionnaire and negative TB test or chest x-ray as applicable.
Health and Immunization Requirements
- Physical exam completed within 12 months prior to start, signed by a licensed provider confirming ability to perform job duties.
- Fit mask test within 12 months, updated annually (approved mask types specified).
- Immunizations or proof of immunity required:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within last 10 years or declination)
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella (2 MMR vaccines or serologic titers)
- Hepatitis B series, titer, or signed declination
- Varicella (2 vaccines, positive titer, or documented history)
- Seasonal flu vaccine or declination during flu season
- COVID vaccine records or declination
- 9-panel drug screen within 30 days of start (instant/rapid accepted).
Additional Requirements
- Two professional references within 3 years of hire.
- Skills checklist required.
- Compliance with New York State Nurse Aide Registry and Medicaid Exclusion List requirements.
