Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse - MS/Telemetry

Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Description

• Work schedule options: alternating 3x12 and 4x12 shifts every other week, or straight 4x12 shifts.
• Patient population includes general medical-surgical, diabetes, renal insufficiency, some overnight ortho, vascular insufficiency, wound care patients, and stroke unit backup.
• Nurse-to-patient ratio: 1:6 (1:4 when managing cardiac drips).
• Weekend shifts required.
• No call requirement.
• Float opportunities available.
• Holiday shifts required for at least 2 of 3 major holidays.
• Special equipment used: Alaris pumps and Vital Sync monitors.
• Required skills: interpretation and management of dysrhythmias and telemetry monitoring.

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Louisiana.
• Minimum 2 years of Medical-Surgical and Telemetry nursing experience, with experience within the last year.
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association.
• Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) certification.
• Experience with Epic electronic health record system.

Competency Requirements

• Annual competency exams with a minimum score of 80% required for:

  • Medication/Pharmacology.
  • Dysrhythmia/EKG interpretation.
  • Core Parts I, II, and III.

Health and Safety Requirements

• Immunizations and testing:

  • Tdap vaccine within the last 10 years (declinations accepted with appropriate documentation).
  • Two MMR vaccines or positive titers for measles, mumps, and rubella (boosters required if titers are low).
  • Two Varicella vaccines or positive titer (boosters required if titer is low).
  • Hepatitis B series, titer, or declination signed within 12 months of start.
  • Negative TB test (Qgold/Tspot or two-step skin test within 3 months of start) or chest X-ray if history of positive TB. Annual TB questionnaire required.
  • Seasonal flu vaccination required annually between October 1 and March 31 (exemptions and declinations accepted with proper documentation). Masking required for unvaccinated staff.
• Drug screening within 30 days of start, including a comprehensive panel of substances.

Additional Requirements

• Government-issued photo ID with name matching all documentation.
• Background check within 6 months covering all locations lived, worked, or attended school in the past 7 years. Must include social security trace, county, nationwide, sex offender, federal, and FACIS Level 3 checks.
• EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start.
• Employment application must include 7 years of work history with no gaps over 30 days.
• Scrubs: Navy blue or combination with white.
• Return to Office (RTO) less than 5 days or add time to end of contract if exceeded.

Shift Details

• Shift: Day shift, 4x12 hours (7:00 AM to 7:30 PM)
• Hours per week: 48

This position is ideal for experienced Medical-Surgical/Telemetry RNs comfortable with telemetry monitoring, cardiac patient care, and working in a dynamic hospital environment with a variety of patient populations.
