Registered Nurse – Cath Lab (Travel/Contract)
Location: San Francisco, California
Shift: Day, 4 shifts per week, 10-hour shifts (8:00 AM – 6:30 PM)
Contract Length: 14 weeks
Job Description
- Work 10-hour day shifts with variable start times.
- Ability to float to other facilities within the health system.
- Provide nursing care in the Cardiac Catheterization Lab with knowledge of diagnostic and therapeutic cardiac catheterization and electrophysiology (EP) procedures, including equipment, accessories, surgical procedures, sterile technique, and patient care.
Required Qualifications
Licensure & Certifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in California.
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).
- American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- American Heart Association (AHA) Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification.
Experience
- Minimum 1 year of recent experience in Cardiac Catheterization Lab.
- Experience in Interventional Radiology (IR).
- Experience in Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU).
- Experience in Intensive Care Unit (ICU).
- Experience in Coronary Care Unit (CCU).
- Experience in a Clinic setting.
Background & Compliance Requirements
- 7-year criminal background check required within 30 days of start and renewed annually, including specific county and nationwide checks.
- Education verification or copy of diploma/transcript required.
- Primary source verification of RN license within 30 days of start.
- Drug screening: Standard 9-panel (excluding THC) within 30 days of start, re-run every 2 years.
- Physical exam within 1 year of start, including physician statement of fitness to work.
- Fit mask test within 1 year of start (specific approved masks required).
- Two negative TB tests required: one within 1 year and one within 3 months of start, or appropriate documentation for positive TB history.
- Required immunizations or titers: Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitis B, Varicella, Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years, no declinations accepted except medical exemptions).
- Seasonal flu vaccine or facility-specific declination required during flu season (Nov-April).
- COVID-19 vaccination strongly recommended but not required as of current policy.
Competency & Testing Requirements
- Pass/Fail Telemetry and Medication exams on first day of orientation (two attempts allowed, third requires manager approval).
- Medication/Pharmacology competency exam with a passing score of 80% or higher within one year of start.
- Unit-specific competency exam with a passing score of 80% or higher within 12 months of start.
- Core training modules (Parts I, II, III) with passing scores of 80% or higher, completed within one year prior to start and updated annually.
- Management of Assaultive Behavior (MAB) may be required depending on unit.
Additional Requirements
- Two supervisory references required from most recent or second most recent employment.
- Current and updated resume including last 7 years of work history; gaps of 30 days or more must be explained.
- Skills checklist specific to unit, updated annually.
- Photo for badge must be submitted by Monday prior to start, with specific photo requirements.
- Completion of facility-specific learning modules prior to or on first day of orientation.
- Review and sign confidentiality and acceptable use agreements.
- Review and initial COVID-19 preparedness and facility policies via electronic signature prior to start.
- Parking and uniform information provided; facility scrubs may be provided for some units, otherwise traveler must provide own scrubs.

- All certifications must be current and from approved sources (e.g., AHA for BLS/ACLS).
