Job Opportunity: CT Technologist (Night Shift)
Location

Work Schedule
- Night shift: Midnight to 8:30 AM, Monday to Friday (5 days/week)
- Initial 2 weeks day shift training before transitioning to night shift
Job Description
- Perform CT scans and X-rays in a low-volume, steady-paced orthopedic imaging setting
- Patient population includes pediatrics, adolescents, adults, and geriatrics
- Exams primarily orthopedic, performed in exam rooms or via portable equipment
- Work independently due to low patient volume (up to 20 patients per shift, often fewer)
- Possible rotation across multiple departments or nearby private sector locations
- Work settings include outpatient, inpatient, ER, and adult ICU
- Procedures include:
- X-ray: extremities, spine/pelvis, head, chest/thorax, musculoskeletal, lower and upper extremities
- CT: abdomen, pelvis, head/neck, chest, spine, musculoskeletal, brain perfusion, CT angiography, multiplanar reconstruction
- Must be able to lift, push, pull, or move patients and equipment over 150 pounds (with or without assistive devices)
Required Qualifications
- Valid CT Technologist license in New York
- Minimum 1 year of CT Technologist experience within the last year
- IV Certification
- ARRT Registered Radiologic Technologist (R) certification
- ARRT CT certification
- Experience as an X-Ray Technician
Preferred Skills
- Experience with Epic electronic health record system preferred
- Experience with portable X-ray equipment
Compliance and Background Requirements
- Criminal background check within 30 days of start, including social security trace, New York State search, county/statewide searches, FACIS Level 3, sex offender database, nationwide and international searches if applicable
- Education verification required (high school/GED minimum for allied travelers; associate degree or higher preferred)
- On-line verification of licensure within 30 days of start; must be re-verified after any break in service over 30 days
- Harassment prevention training certificate (New York specific)
- Drug screen: Aya standard 9-panel drug test within 1 year of start (not required for subcontractors)
- Physical exam within 1 year of start, updated annually
- Fit test for N95 masks within 1 year of start, updated annually (exceptions apply)
- Required immunizations and titers: TDAP (within 10 years), Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Hepatitis B (positive titer or declination), TB screening (negative test or chest x-ray within 1 year)
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required annually by November 1
- Two manager/supervisor references required (charge nurse references generally not accepted)
- Employment application, work history verification (up to 7 years), and skills checklist updated annually required
Orientation and Training
- Initial day shift training for 2 weeks before night shift assignment
- HIPAA acknowledgment required
- Facility-specific documents and policies must be reviewed and signed, including:
- Privacy, Information Security & Confidentiality Agreement
- Drug-Free Workplace Policy
- Code of Conduct
- Quality, Regulatory, and Safety Practices
- New Beginnings Packet (includes Staff Handbook and Code of Conduct Policies)
- Avoiding Workplace Harassment acknowledgment
- Photo for badge required within 72 hours of contract signing (specific photo guidelines apply)
- Onboarding and continuing education modules must be completed within 30 days of start and as required throughout assignment
Additional Notes
- Unit accepts first-time travelers (no prior travel experience required)
- Pass/fail competency exams and other unit-specific competency requirements may apply but are generally not required for allied/tech staff
- Must establish facility system username and password prior to orientation
- Must be comfortable working independently in a low-volume environment
This position is ideal for CT Technologists with solid experience in orthopedic imaging, who are licensed in New York and certified in both ARRT Radiography and CT, and who are comfortable working overnight shifts in a specialized hospital setting.
