Registered Nurse – MS/Tele (Nebraska, Omaha)

Shift: Day (3 shifts per week, 12 hours each, 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM)

Job Description

  • Option for 36 or 48-hour shifts and 13 or 26 week contract lengths.
  • Frequent floating required to meet hospital staffing needs; may float to various units including sister campus 16 minutes away.
  • Units include Medical-Surgical/Telemetry (MS/Tele) with specialties such as Neuro, Ortho, Cardiac, Trauma, Oncology, Progressive Care, and Observation.
  • Drip medication administration required on all floors.
  • EPIC electronic charting experience required.
  • First-time travel nurses not accepted unless with 2 years experience at a Level I Academic Medical Center.
  • Care teams include CNAs, care techs, transport team, paramedics; LPNs assigned on some floors.
  • Facility is 100% nicotine-free.
  • Weekend requirement: 4 weekend shifts out of 8 possible in a 4-week period (days: Sat/Sun; nights: Fri/Sat).
  • Holiday requirement: Must work 2 out of 3 major winter holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year’s).
  • Locals not accepted (must live more than 100 miles from facility).
  • Pending license accepted but must be in hand at time of submission or booking delayed six weeks.
  • Mandatory scrubs: Steele gray with facility logo; facility provides info on obtaining scrubs.
  • Parking permit available (~$55/month) or daily parking rates apply.

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse license in Nebraska (pending license accepted with conditions).
  • Minimum 2 years of telemetry nursing experience, with at least one year of telemetry experience within the last year.
  • Completion of at least one travel nursing assignment.
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) required.
  • Current BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association.
  • NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification required.
  • Experience with EPIC electronic health record system.
  • Valid Driver’s License.

Certifications & Compliance

  • BLS (Basic Life Support) required.
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) strongly preferred.
  • Other certifications as applicable per unit (e.g., PALS, NRP, NIH Stroke Certification).
  • Background check within 30 days of start, including multiple county/state/federal checks.
  • Drug screening within 60 days of start and updated annually.
  • Physical exam and fit mask test within 1 year of start, updated annually.
  • Immunizations and health documents required:
    • Tdap within last 10 years
    • Negative TB test or chest x-ray with TB questionnaire if positive history
    • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titer with boosters if needed
    • Hepatitis B titer or declination
    • Varicella vaccination or positive titer with boosters if needed
    • Flu vaccine preferred (documentation or declination required)
    • COVID vaccine preferred; exemptions accepted
  • Education verification and references (2 work references within past 2 years).
  • Annual skills checklist required.
  • State-specific registry checks required prior to start.

  • Travelers assigned to units based on experience; preferred unit requests considered at submission.
  • Facility operates a strict nicotine-free policy.
