Job Opportunity: Interventional Radiology Registered Nurse
Location: Auburn, New York
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
- Provide nursing care in Interventional Radiology and Special Procedures settings.
- Procedures involved include:
- Gastrointestinal: Angioplasty, Chemoembolization, Gastrostomy Tube Placement, Liver Ablation, Paracentesis, Percutaneous Hepatic Angiography, TIPS (Transjugular Intrahepatic Portosystemic Shunt)
- Genitourinary: Nephrostomy, Renal Angiography, Renal Artery Stent Placement, Uterine Arterial Embolization
- Vascular: Angioplasty, Carotid Stenting, Central Venous Access/Port Placement, Dialysis Graft Creation/Revision, Endovascular Interventions, Stent Graft Placement, SVC/IVC Venography, Thoracic Aortography, Upper and Lower Extremity Angiography
- Administer and monitor procedural sedation.
- Apply professional knowledge in infection prevention and interpretation/management of dysrhythmias.
Shift Details
- Day shifts with a variation of:
- 5 days of 8-hour shifts (8:00 AM – 4:00 PM)
- 4 days of 10-hour shifts (8:00 AM – 6:00 PM)
- Total hours per week: 40
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in New York.
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
- Minimum 1 year of recent Interventional Radiology nursing experience within the last year.
- Certifications:
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) issued by the American Heart Association.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) issued by the American Heart Association.
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) training and certification.
Required Documentation & Compliance
- Unexpired government-issued photo ID (e.g., driver’s license or state ID).
- Background checks covering all locations lived/worked/schooled in the past 7 years, updated annually.
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks prior to start.
- Primary source verification of RN license prior to start and upon expiration.
- Nursys verification prior to start.
- Completion and signing of facility-specific documents including Code of Conduct, Patient Abuse Reporting, Confidentiality and Non-Disclosure Agreement, Orientation Packet, and Automated Dispensing Cabinet Security training.
- Annual Tuberculosis screening questionnaire and negative TB test or chest x-ray as applicable.
- Physical exam completed within 12 months prior to start, signed by a licensed provider confirming ability to perform job duties.
- Fit mask test within 12 months prior to start, updated annually.
- Immunizations and/or proof of immunity:
- TDAP vaccine within last 10 years or declination
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella (MMR) immunity or vaccination
- Hepatitis B series, titer, or signed declination
- Varicella immunity or vaccination
- Seasonal flu vaccine or declination during flu season
- COVID vaccine records or declination
- 9-panel drug screen within 30 days of start (instant/rapid accepted).
- Two professional references within 3 years of hire.
- Skills checklist required.
- Compliance with New York State Nurse Aide Registry and Medicaid Exclusion List requirements.
Competency Requirements
- Medication/pharmacology competency exam as applicable.
- Specialty competency exam as applicable.
Additional Notes
- Nurses are responsible for independently measuring telemetry strips and accurately interpreting cardiac rhythms for all telemetry patients under their care, as telemetry technicians are not employed by the facility.
- Stroke education (8 hours annually) is required, with NIH Stroke Scale training counting toward this total.
This position is ideal for experienced Interventional Radiology RNs licensed in New York who are comfortable with advanced vascular and procedural nursing skills and telemetry monitoring.
