ICU Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Job - Valdosta, Georgia

Position Overview

• Unit: Medical and Surgical ICU (MSICU)
• Patient Population: Pediatrics, Adults, Geriatrics
• Patient Diagnoses: Medical ICU and surgical ICU patients except cardiac and occasional pediatrics; includes post code, post stroke, TPA, respiratory failure, dialysis
• Float Requirement: Float between CPU, PCU, and MS/Telemetry units (max 4 patients on float)
• Schedule: Night shift, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM)
• Weekend Coverage: Every other weekend required
• Medication System: Omnicell
• Documentation System: EPIC

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Georgia
• Minimum 2 years of ICU (Intensive Care Unit) experience, with ICU experience within the last year
• BLS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
• NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certification
• NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale) certification
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)

Contract Details

• Contract Length: 8 weeks
• Shift Length: 12-hour shifts
• Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week (3 shifts)
• Called Off Rules: Incremental call-off hours allowed up to 8, 10, or 12 hours per 2-week period depending on shift length

Required Documentation & Compliance

• Valid Driver’s License or State ID
• Social Security Card
• Background Check (within 30 days of start): includes SSN trace, 7-year county residence, nationwide search, sex offender search
• Official Transcript or Diploma copy
• Physical Exam (within 1 year, renewed yearly)
• Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year (or documentation if past positive)
• Immunizations or positive titers for:

  • Rubeola (Measles)
  • Mumps
  • Rubella
  • Hepatitis B (titer, series completion, or signed declination)
  • Varicella
• Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap within 10 years (facility-specific declination accepted)
• Negative 10-panel drug screen within 30 days of start (including Marijuana/THC)
• Flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required prior to start during flu season (Sept 22 - Mar 31)
• COVID-19 vaccination or approved exemption required (facility-specific forms)
• Photo for badge (passport style, white background, no selfies)
• Employment application and 2 professional references

Orientation & Testing Requirements

• EPIC testing on day 1
• Pass/fail exams during orientation:

  • Medication exam (required for all RNs)
  • EKG exam (required for ICU and related units)
  • Critical Care exam (BKAT) for ICU units
• Dysrhythmia guide and testing during orientation (2 attempts allowed)
• Facility-specific online learning modules must be completed prior to start
• Mask fit testing completed at orientation

Additional Notes

• Facility is sensitive to DNR orders; redirection may occur
• Scrub colors vary by unit; ICU nurses typically wear Ceil Blue
• Float assignments limit patient load to 4 patients when floating
• Fingerprinting through Georgia GCHEXS system is NOT required for RNs
• Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) certification required only for ER travelers after 1 year at facility (not applicable here)

This position offers an opportunity for ICU RNs with at least 2 years of experience to work night shifts in a critical care environment with a diverse patient population and a supportive orientation process. First-time travel nurses are welcome.
