Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (Cath Lab RN) - Seattle, Washington

Position Details

Experience Requirements

  • Years of Experience: Minimum 2 years of current Cath/EP lab experience
  • Prior Travel Experience: Not explicitly required; first-time travelers accepted based on experience

  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA only
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA only

Job Description

  • Provide care for patients undergoing:
    • Coronary angiograms/interventions
    • Peripheral vascular studies
    • Placement of Swan Ganz catheters and temporary pacing wires
    • Cardiac device implants (pacemakers/ICDs)
    • Diagnostic EP/ablation procedures
  • Responsibilities include:
    • Pre-procedure workup (review of systems, consent verification, IV start if needed, pre-medication, procedure room preparation)
    • Intra-procedure circulating (moderate sedation, patient care, equipment setup, supply handling)
    • Post-procedure patient care (sheath care, documentation, hand-offs, sheath removal)
  • Scrubbing is not expected but monitoring is desired
  • Weekend work required
  • On-call required
  • Floating within hospital required; no floating to sister hospitals
  • Locals accepted; pending licenses not accepted
  • Return to office (RTO) restrictions: 1 week max

Additional Requirements & Notes

  • Background checks including 7-year criminal history, sex offender search, and federal exclusions required
  • Education verification or diploma/transcript required
  • Medication/Pharmacology competency exams required (80% minimum in dosage calculations)
  • Color blind testing required
  • Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam may be required (refer to unit specifics)
  • WA state-specific requirements for multi-state licensed nurses (suicide prevention training, demographic attestation)
  • EPIC integration video and attestation required prior to start
  • Physical exam required (signed within 1 year)
  • Fit mask test required within 12 months of start (specific mask types preferred)
  • Immunizations and health documents required:
    • TDAP within 10 years
    • Negative TB test or chest x-ray per facility guidelines
    • Measles, Mumps, Rubella: positive titer or vaccination documentation
    • Hepatitis B: positive titer plus vaccine series or declination
    • Varicella: titer, vaccination, or physician documented history
    • Flu vaccination or approved exemption/declination during flu season
    • COVID vaccination or declination for tracking
  • Drug screening: 10 panel within one year (required by agency, not facility)
  • Photo for badge required prior to start (DMV style, no selfies)
  • Various facility-specific agreements and training modules must be completed prior to start

This position is ideal for experienced Cath Lab RNs looking for a travel contract in a high-acuity, teaching hospital environment with a strong focus on cardiac procedures. Weekend and on-call availability are required.
