Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse – Telemetry Unit

Unit Description

• Heart & Vascular Unit (7HVU) is a 49-bed specialty medical/surgical unit focused on cardiovascular care.
• Fast-paced environment providing professional growth in cardiovascular patient care.
• Patient population includes stable heart and lung transplant patients and those with Ventricular Assist Devices (LVADs).
• Sister unit to the Cardiac Progressive Care Unit.
• Nurse-to-patient ratios: 1:5 (days), 1:6 (nights), occasionally 1:7 nights.
• Drip infusions required on all floors.
• EPIC charting experience required.
• Frequent floating required to various units within the hospital system, including Bellevue campus.

Required Qualifications

• License: Registered Nurse (RN) license for Nebraska. Pending license accepted but must be in hand before start.
• Experience: Minimum 2 years of RN experience in a large, urban hospital setting.
• Certifications:

  • BLS (Basic Life Support) – AHA required
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) – AHA required
• Skills:

  • Experience with drips on all floors
  • EPIC electronic medical record system experience
• Other:

  • First-time travelers not accepted unless they have 2 years of experience at a Level I Academic Medical Center.
  • Must be prepared to float frequently within scope to meet staffing needs.
  • Must work 2 out of 3 major holidays during the contract.
  • Locals not accepted (must live more than 100 miles from facility).
  • Scrubs are mandatory (specific color and branding required).

Schedule & Work Conditions

• Option for 36 or 48-hour shifts.
• Weekend shifts: 4 out of 8 possible in a 4-week period.
• Weekend days: Saturday and Sunday; weekend nights: Friday and Saturday nights.
• Up to two weeks of RTO (request time off) permitted, with manager approval for additional requests.
• 100% nicotine-free facility.

Additional Requirements

• Government-issued photo ID required.
• Background check within 30 days of start, including nationwide and federal enhanced searches.
• Various health and safety documents required, including:

  • Physical exam (within 1 year, updated annually)
  • Fit mask test (annual)
  • Immunizations: Tdap, MMR, Hepatitis B, Varicella, Flu vaccine documentation or declination
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray documentation
  • Drug screening within 60 days of start, updated annually
• References: 2 work references from the past 2 years required.
• Annual skills checklist required.

Prior Travel Experience

• First-time travelers generally not accepted unless meeting the academic medical center experience requirement.
