Position Details
- Role: Med Surg/Tele Float RN
- Start Date: ASAP
- Shifts: 3x12 hour night shifts
- Patient Ratios: 1:5 (Days), 1:5 (Nights)
- Floating: Required; travelers regularly float between various like units within skill set
- Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend (EOW)
- On-call: Not required
- Block Scheduling: Not available
- Local Travelers: Not eligible if residing within 50 miles of the facility
- Pending License: Accepted, but quick starts preferred
Required Experience & Skills
- Specialty: Registered Nurse (Med Surg/Telemetry)
- Years of Experience: Minimum 2 years in specialty
- Telemetry Experience: Required
- Charge Nurse Experience: Preferred
- First-time Travelers: Accepted
Required Certifications
- BCLS (Basic Cardiac Life Support): Required
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support): Preferred
- Management of Assaultive Behavior (MAB): Preferred
- NIH Stroke Certification: Preferred
Licensure
- Must hold an active RN license valid in Washington State or compact license accepted with required attestations completed prior to start.
Compliance & Documentation Requirements
- Background Check: Must be completed within 45 days of start, covering all locations lived/worked in the past 7 years. Includes SSN trace, death master index, nationwide and county checks, sex offender registry, education verification, and more.
- Education Verification: Required for nursing degree; international education requires additional documentation.
- References: Minimum 2 supervisor references covering 1 year of employment within the last 3 years in a comparable specialty/setting.
- Employment Application: Must include at least last 5 years of employment with month/year format.
- Physical Exam: Within 1 year of start, signed by MD, NP, PA, or DO, indicating ability to work with or without accommodation.
- Drug Testing: 10-panel drug screen within 90 days of start (no instant tests).
- Immunizations & Health Documents:
- TDAP (Tetanus/Diphtheria/Pertussis) within 10 years or declination accepted
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months, updated annually
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titer
- Hepatitis B vaccination or signed declination
- Varicella vaccination or positive titer
- Flu vaccine during flu season or declination
- COVID vaccine or declination
- Respiratory Safety Clearance: Required for travel candidates, medically cleared annually for respirator use.
- Fit Mask Testing: Required for travel candidates, updated annually (some exceptions apply).
Additional Requirements
- Floating Policy Acknowledgement: Must acknowledge and comply with floating policy.
- WorkRamp Modules: Completion of required online training modules prior to start, including:
- Annual regulatory requirements
- Specialty-specific modules for Med Surg/Telemetry float pool
- Basics of Trauma Informed Care (required at this facility)
- Epic Access Training: Completion of Epic electronic health record training modules as assigned.
