Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (MS/Tele)

Contract Length: 13 weeks

Unit & Schedule Details

• No straight 3x12 schedules available.
• Schedule options:

  • Alternating 3x12s and 4x12s every other week, or
  • Straight 4x12s.
• Patient population includes General Medical-Surgical, Diabetes, Renal Insufficiency, some Overnight Orthopedics, Vascular Insufficiency, Wound Care, and Stroke Unit backup.
• Nurse-to-patient ratio: 1:6 (1:4 if cardiac drip).
• Weekend work required.
• No call requirement.
• Float required.
• Holiday work required for at least 2 of 3 holidays (excluding 11/27, 12/24, 12/25).
• Facility needs coverage through Mardi Gras (2/13 - 2/22); minimize time-off requests during this period.

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Louisiana.
• Minimum 2 years of Medical-Surgical/Telemetry nursing experience, with experience within the last year.
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing.
• BLS (Basic Life Support) certification issued by the American Heart Association.
• Experience with interpretation and management of dysrhythmias.
• Experience with telemetry monitoring.
• Experience working with Epic electronic health record system.
• Experience working with Pediatric, Neonate, and Maternal-Fetal patients.
• Experience working with Level 1 and Level 2 Trauma patients.

Equipment & Competencies

• Experience with Alaris Pumps and Vital Sync Monitors.
• Competency exams required within 12 months of start and updated annually:

  • Medication/Pharmacology competency.
  • Dysrhythmia/EKG competency.
  • Core competencies (Parts I, II, III).

Background & Health Requirements

• Background check within 6 months covering all locations lived/worked/schooled in past 7 years.
• EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start.
• Drug screen within 30 days of start (10-panel or expanded panel depending on hire date).
• Physical exam not required by facility but may be required by placement agency.
• Immunizations/vaccinations required or documentation of immunity:

  • Tdap within 10 years.
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray per facility guidelines.
  • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) - 2 vaccines or positive titer.
  • Varicella - 2 vaccines or positive titer.
  • Hepatitis B series, titer, or declination.
  • Seasonal flu vaccination required during flu season (Oct 1 - Mar 31) with exemptions accepted.
• TB questionnaire required annually.

Additional Notes

• Employee appearance policy requires navy blue or navy/white scrubs.
• Time off requests (RTO) should be less than 5 days or added to the end of the contract.
• Employment application must include 7 years of work history with no gaps over 30 days.

This position is ideal for experienced Medical-Surgical/Telemetry RNs comfortable with telemetry monitoring, dysrhythmia management, and working flexible 12-hour shifts including weekends and holidays.
