Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)

Location: Slidell, Louisiana
Contract Length: 8 weeks

Job Details

• Shift: 06:30 AM - 03:00 PM
• Call: Weekdays, weekends, and holidays
• Weekends: 2 weekends per 6-week schedule
• Cases Per Day: 10-25
• Rooms: 7
• Scrubs: Green (provided)
• Emergency Team: Upon assignment, you may be required to stay at the facility during emergency events or be part of a relief team.

Experience Requirements

• Specialty: Registered Nurse
• Years of Experience Required: 2 years (OR experience required; CVOR experience preferred but not required)
• Prior Travel Experience: Not explicitly required; 1st time travelers accepted if they have sufficient OR experience

Certifications Required

• BLS (Basic Life Support): AHA only, RQI accepted
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support): Required for OR specialty
• Other certifications may be required depending on unit assignment; verify with program management if unclear

Licensure

• Active Louisiana RN license or Compact License required upon submission
• License must be current or in the process of renewal if expiring within 30 days of start

Background and Compliance Requirements

• 7-year criminal background check within 90 days of start, updated annually
• EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start, updated monthly
• Sex offender search required within 30 days of start, updated monthly
• Education verification of highest level required (except for roles with state license)
• Competency exam specific to specialty required annually
• Drug screening: Negative 10-panel drug screen within 60 days of start
• Physical exam within 12 months indicating good health
• Fit mask testing (N95) within one year of start; onsite fit testing available if needed
• Immunizations and titers required: Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap, Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitis B, Varicella
• Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months, updated annually
• Seasonal flu vaccination or approved exemption required during flu season (Oct 1 - Apr 30)

Additional Requirements

• Resume/application required with 7 years of employment history and explanations for gaps
• Skills checklist updated annually
• Color passport-style photo for badge within 24 hours of booking
• Compliance with COVID-19 medical or religious exemption forms if applicable

Notes

• Unit accepts first-time travelers with adequate OR experience
• Emergency team participation may be required during events
• Certification renewals must be completed prior to start if expiring within 30 days

This position is ideal for Registered Nurses with at least 2 years of experience, comfortable working in an OR environment, and willing to participate in emergency response teams as needed.
