Job Opportunity: Pediatric OR Registered Nurse

Location: Needham Heights, Massachusetts
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Description

• Work 40 hours per week with 8- or 10-hour shifts (variable by week)
• Potential for short call until 7:30 pm
• Float between Lexington, Needham, and Waltham satellite operating room locations
• Primary service line: Orthopedics and sports medicine (arthroscopies, general upper/lower extremity orthopedics, orthopedic trauma)
• Scrub and circulate in multiple service lines including orthopedics, urology, ophthalmology, general surgery, GYN, GI, plastic surgery, dental, and dermatology
• Extensive experience preferred with Arthrex, Smith & Nephew, and Synthes/DePuy arthroscopy systems, instrumentation, and implants
• Serve as a preceptor providing teaching, guidance, and support to staff and new team members
• Epic electronic health record experience required

Required Certifications

• BLS (Basic Life Support) – Required for all clinical positions
• PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) – Required
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) – Preferred
• Other certifications may be required depending on unit (e.g., NRP, Chemo, EFM)

Experience Requirements

• Specialty: Registered Nurse (Pediatric OR)
• Required years of experience: Not explicitly stated; assume minimum 1+ year OR experience preferred due to specialty and equipment familiarity

Compliance & Documentation Requirements

• Background checks including 10-year criminal history, EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG, and Massachusetts Statewide iCORI clearance
• Proof of name change if applicable
• Physical exam within 1 year, cleared to work with no restrictions
• Immunizations and health documents required:

  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap
  • Negative TB test or chest x-ray
  • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) proof or titers
  • Hepatitis B documentation or declination
  • Varicella proof or titer
  • Seasonal Flu vaccination or approved exemption
  • COVID vaccination or approved exemption
• Drug screening: 9-panel drug screen within last 12 months (not required for APN)
• RespSafety clearance required for all travelers
• Professional references: 2 verified from 2 of the last 3 employers
• Employment application with 10-year work history and explanation for gaps over 30 days
• Skills checklist specific to scope of practice within 1 year prior to start

• Must be able to float between multiple satellite OR locations
• May be required to work short call shifts
• Preceptor role includes mentoring new staff
• Facility uses Epic EHR system
• Extensive documentation and compliance requirements must be met prior to start
