Job Summary
Seeking a Registered Nurse with Intermediate Care (IMC) experience for a travel contract position in Tyler, TX.
Required Experience
- Minimum 2 years of experience as a Registered Nurse
- Prior travel experience required (explicitly stated)
Required Skills & Certifications
- Experience with Epic charting system
- Certifications:
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
- Patient ratio: 1 nurse to 4 patients
Required Licenses
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license for Texas
Additional Requirements
- Must have a valid Driver’s License or State ID
- Background checks including 7-year history, education verification, and federal exclusions (EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG)
- Physical exam within 12 months of start
- Fit mask test within 1 year of start (annual renewal required)
- Immunizations and health documentation:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella (positive titer or 2 vaccines)
- Hepatitis B (positive titer, series, or declination accepted)
- Varicella (positive titer, 2 vaccines, or documented chickenpox history)
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption (required during flu season)
- Negative 10-panel drug screen within 90 days of start
- Competency exams and medication/pharmacology test as applicable
- Color blindness test (online acceptable)
- Unit-specific skills checklist annually
- Work history verification for the past 7 years
Requirements/Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Texas
- Minimum 2 years of Progressive Care Unit (PCU) experience, including experience within the last year
- Intermediate Care experience
- Completion of at least one travel nursing assignment
- Current ACLS certification issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- Current BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Experience with Epic electronic health record system
Notes
- Candidates residing in certain Texas counties are not eligible for this contract.
- Orientation and fingerprinting requirements may apply depending on location.
- Documentation must be clear and cannot state immunizations or history as "per history" or similar vague terms.
- Declinations for vaccines are generally not accepted except for Hepatitis B and flu with approved exemptions.
This position is ideal for experienced RNs with prior travel assignments who are proficient in Epic and hold current ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS certifications.
