Job Opportunity: Cytotechnologist (Cyto Tech) - Travel/Contract

Location: Winfield, Illinois
Contract Length: 12 weeks

Job Summary

Seeking a Cytotechnologist for a travel/contract position. The role involves performing high complexity testing in a laboratory setting, specifically in cytology.

Required Qualifications

• Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Graduation from an accredited school of Cytology per CAAHEP in collaboration with CPRC/ASC.

• Certification:

  • Cytotechnologist (CT) certification from ASCP.
  • Must meet federal licensing guidelines (CLIA) and accreditation agency requirements (TJC, CAP) for high complexity testing.

• Experience:

  • Minimum of 0 years explicitly stated, but assume entry-level to experienced cytotechnologist based on certification requirements.

• Additional Preferred:

  • Training or certification in Liquid Based Cytology (ThinPrep) is preferred.

Licensure & Compliance

• Must hold valid Cytotechnologist certification (CT, ASCP).
• Must comply with Illinois Healthcare Worker Registry requirements, including fingerprinting and eligibility verification prior to assignment start.
• Must complete all required background checks including 7-year criminal background check, education verification, and other state-specific screenings.

Health & Safety Requirements

• Physical exam within 1 year of start, confirming good health and ability to perform job duties.
• Fit mask testing (3M Aura 1870+) within 12 months of start, updated annually.
• Required immunizations and/or proof of immunity or vaccination for:

  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years)
  • Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella (positive IgG titer or 2 vaccines)
  • Varicella (chickenpox)
  • Hepatitis B vaccine series or positive titer (declinations accepted)
  • Seasonal Flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption during flu season
  • COVID-19 vaccination series or declination with required documentation
• Negative TB test or chest x-ray per facility policy, updated annually for clinical patient-facing roles.
• Drug screening: 10-panel urine drug test within 30 days of start.

Documentation & Compliance

• Must complete and maintain all required documentation including:

  • I9 verification
  • Driver’s license or government photo ID
  • Proof of name change if applicable
  • Employment history covering 7 years with explanations for gaps over 30 days
  • Skills checklist annually (if applicable)
  • Facility-specific agreements including confidentiality, privacy policy, information security, and cannabis acknowledgement.
  • Completion of Illinois-specific fingerprinting and healthcare worker registry eligibility.

Additional Notes

• Candidates must complete required training modules and facility-specific onboarding prior to start.
• Accommodation requests for vaccinations or fit testing must be submitted within 24-48 hours of contract signing and may take up to 3 weeks for review.
• No prior travel experience is explicitly required for this position.
