Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)

Location: Oakland, California
Specialty: Registered Nurse (RN)
Contract Length: 16 weeks


Job Details

  • Shift: 5 days a week, 8 hours per day (Monday to Friday)
  • Minimum Experience Required: 4 years in specialty (highest stated requirement)
  • Prior Travel Experience: Not explicitly required

Required Certifications

  • California RN License
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA only
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA only
  • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
  • BSN preferred (not required)

Required Skills and Competencies

  • Strong knowledge and comfort with NST (Non-Stress Test) / DVP (Doppler Velocity Profile)
  • Experience in OB Intake/Triage and Pregnancy Assessment Clinics
  • Ability to manage patient calls and procedure clinics involving moderate sedation
  • In-basket management skills
  • Ability to run 3 NST patients simultaneously
  • EPIC electronic health record system experience
  • High-risk OB and OB/GYN care
  • Triage and patient assessment
  • Blood glucose monitoring
  • Pelvic exams and ectopic pregnancy management

Job Requirements

  • Must be strong in Labor & Delivery (L&D)
  • Ability to perform Doppler Velocity Profiles (DVPs) is a plus

Health and Compliance Requirements

  • Physical exam within 90 days of start, signed by MD, DO, PA, NP, or APRN
  • Fit mask test within 90 days of start (specific mask types required)
  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccination within 10 years or signed declination
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray updated annually
  • TB questionnaire updated annually
  • Proof of immunity or vaccination for:
    • Rubeola (Measles)
    • Mumps
    • Rubella
    • Hepatitis B (positive titer or declination)
    • Varicella
  • Drug testing: Oral saliva drug screen within 30 days of start (rapid tests not accepted)
  • Seasonal flu vaccination or declination documentation required by November 6
  • Color blind exam within 90 days of start

Background and Documentation Requirements

  • Background check within 90 days prior to start (includes multiple criminal and sanction searches)
  • Education verification of highest level completed (cannot be pending)
  • Employment verification for past 3 years
  • Current resume including last 7 years of employment
  • References as per agency requirements
  • Photo ID (Driver’s License or Passport)
  • Badge photo (passport style, no filters)
  • Completion of orientation safety manual acknowledgment
  • Completion of facility-specific competencies and new employee orientation modules on first day

Additional Notes

  • Competencies must be completed by 11:59 PM PST on the first day of the contract
  • Failure to complete competencies within 14 days results in immediate termination of assignment
  • New competencies required if absent from the system for 6 months or more
  • Masking required for all candidates during flu season (Nov 1 – Mar 31) regardless of vaccination status

This position is ideal for experienced RNs with strong OB/L&D skills and comfort managing multiple patients in a fast-paced clinical environment.
