Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (Labor and Delivery)

Location: Knoxville, Tennessee
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Requirements

  • Specialty: Registered Nurse - Labor and Delivery
  • Experience: Minimum 2 years current experience in Labor and Delivery
  • Prior Travel Experience: Not explicitly required
  • On-Call: 2 shifts per 6-week schedule period
  • Weekend Requirements: Every other weekend or 2 weekends per month
  • Nurse-Patient Ratio:
    • Labor: 1:2
    • Postpartum/Couplets: 1:8
  • Float: Required

Required Certifications

  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA or ARC accepted
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA or ARC accepted
  • AWHONN (Association of Women's Health, Obstetric and Neonatal Nurses)
  • NIHSS (NIH Stroke Scale)
  • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)

Certifications must be current and may not expire within 45 days of assignment start date. Actual certificates must be uploaded; screenshots or photos are not acceptable.


Compliance and Documentation

  • Background Check:
    • Must be completed within 45 days of start and updated annually
    • Includes 7-year SSN trace with complete address history, alias verification, national and state criminal checks, sex offender registries, abuse registries, and federal criminal searches
  • Licenses:
    • Valid Tennessee RN license required
    • License verification must be within 30 days of start date
  • Health Documents:
    • Physical exam within 12 months, signed by MD, DO, NP, APRN, or PA
    • Negative TB test (QGold or Skin Test) within 1 year; T-spots not accepted
    • Immunizations or titers for MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella), Hepatitis B, Varicella
    • Drug testing within 45 days of start
    • Seasonal flu vaccination required for 2025-26 season (no declinations accepted; exemptions only for medical or religious reasons with proper documentation)
  • Competency Exams:
    • Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam
    • Color Blind Testing (Ishihara test) within 12 months
    • Dysrhythmia/EKG Competency Exam (80% pass rate required)
    • Core Competency Exams (Parts I, II, III) with minimum 80% pass rate, updated annually

Additional Information

  • Travelers requesting time off during holidays will not be accommodated (holidays include Valentine's Day, Spring Break, Easter, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Fall Break, Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year’s Day). Holiday time off requests may be addressed onsite after arrival.
  • Photo for badge required (passport style, solid background, no filters or facial piercings)
  • References: 2 supervisory references from the past 3 years required
  • Employment application must include 7-year work history with no unexplained gaps over 30 days
