Location: Lubbock, Texas
Employment Type: Travel/Contract

Job Description

  • Position: Vascular Technologist
  • First-timers welcome (1 year contract)
  • Floating between units: No
  • On-call: Yes, variable as needed
  • Weekends: Yes, variable as needed
  • Block schedules: No
  • Expected workload: Approximately 8 studies per day
  • Special requirements:
    • Must be vascular certified
    • Transcranial Doppler experience preferred
  • 48-hour shifts: Not approved

  • Level II Trauma Center
  • Dress Code:
    • Licensed nursing personnel (RN, LVN): solid navy blue uniforms or scrubs (no print tops except in Children’s Hospital and Women’s Services units)
    • Unlicensed personnel (US, CNA, PCA, NT, MT): solid hunter green uniforms or scrubs (no print tops except noted exceptions)
  • Parking: Free in any unrestricted employee/visitor surface parking lot

Required Certifications & Licenses

  • Vascular Certification (required)
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA or Canadian Heart & Stroke Foundation certification
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA or Canadian Heart & Stroke Foundation certification
  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) - AHA or Canadian Heart & Stroke Foundation certification (if applicable)
  • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Procedure) - current certification by AAP, AHA, or Canadian Paediatric Society (if applicable)
  • Chemotherapy certification (if applicable)
  • Electronic Fetal Monitoring (EFM) certification (if applicable)
  • State License and National Allied Licensure verification as applicable
  • IV Certification (if applicable)
  • Management of Assaultive Behavior (MAB) (if applicable)
  • NIH Stroke Certification (if applicable)
  • CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute) certification (if applicable)

Required Background Checks & Verifications

  • Background check within 45 days of start, covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years, updated annually
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM check within 30 days of start, updated monthly
  • HHS/OIG check within 30 days of start, updated monthly
  • Education Verification (3rd party) for all candidates
  • State-specific searches as required (e.g., Washington WSP/WATCH, OBRA Registry for CNAs)
  • NURSYS verification for RNs
  • Drug Testing: 10-panel drug screen within 90 days of start (no instant tests)
  • References: Minimum 2 supervisor references covering 1 year employment in last 3 years (6 months for CNAs)
  • Employment Application: Must include at least last 5 years of employment with explanations for gaps/overlaps

Health & Safety Requirements

  • Physical Exam within 1 year of start, signed by MD, NP, PA, or DO
  • Fit Mask test (N95 or equivalent) required for travel starts on or after 2/5/2024, updated annually
  • Immunizations and titers:
    • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years or declination accepted)
    • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months, updated annually
    • Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella: 2 MMR vaccines or positive titer or declination
    • Hepatitis B: vaccination series or signed declination (special rules for Alaska placements)
    • Varicella: 2 vaccines or positive titer or declination
  • Seasonal Vaccinations:
    • Flu vaccine required during flu season (declination accepted)
    • COVID vaccine or declination required
  • Respiratory Safety Clearance (RespSafety) for respirator use, medically cleared annually (travel only)

Competency & Skills Requirements

  • Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam as applicable
  • Color Blind Testing if required by unit or PM team
  • Competency Exams as applicable by profession/specialty
  • Specialty-specific competency exams (e.g., Medication Aide exam for CNAs in LTC Oregon facilities)
  • Skills Checklist updated annually for applicable units

Facility Specific Requirements

  • Photo for badge (passport style with neutral background) required for Texas and other Providence regions
  • Floating Policy Acknowledgement: Candidate may be required to float to other Providence facilities within reasonable distance
  • Completion of Providence WorkRamp LMS modules prior to start and annually as required by region and specialty
  • Epic Access training modules required for certain regions and roles (travel only)
  • Providence System TB Questionnaire to be completed prior to start and updated annually

  • No 48-hour shifts approved
  • On-call and weekend work is variable and as needed
  • Floating between units is not required for this position
  • Dress code is strictly enforced according to role and unit
  • Free parking available for employees in designated lots
