Job Opportunity: Radiology / Cardiology (Travel/Contract)

Location: Cedar Rapids, Iowa
Schedule: Monday - Friday, 7:30 AM - 4:00 PM
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Experience Requirements

  • Specialty: Radiology / Cardiology

  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support): American Heart Association (AHA) only; RQI acceptable

  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support): AHA only; required for certain RN units (PACU, Pain Management, Pediatric Unit, ER)

  • TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course): Required for ER RNs
  • EFM (Electronic Fetal Monitoring): AWHONN Intermediate required for L&D RNs
  • Orientation Safety Manual Acknowledgement: HIPAA required, expires annually
  • State License Verification: Primary source verification within 30 days of start
  • NURSYS Verification: For RNs, LPN/LVN, AP; must be verified through NURSYS (except HI and MI) and primary source verification within 30 days of start
  • NIH Stroke Certification: May be required; valid 1-2 years depending on certification
  • CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute): Required for all Psych positions
  • Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam: Required for all RNs with an 80% pass rate
  • Color Blind Testing: HRR-Ishihara test required; 100% passing score required
  • Competency Exams: Unit-specific competency exams required with minimum 80% score
  • Dysrhythmia/EKG Competency Exam: Required for ICU, CCU, ER, and Telemetry RNs with 80% pass rate
  • Core Competency Exams (Parts I, II, III): Must be updated annually with 80% or better; expiration during contract disallows work until retaken

Background & Compliance Requirements

  • Background Checks: Must be within 30 days of assignment start, including:
    • 7-year county checks (re-run annually or with location change)
    • National Federal, USA Criminal Search (if lived outside IA in last 7 years)
    • Social Security Trace (annual or location change)
    • FACIS III, OFAC, OIG/EPLS, National Sex Offender Search, SAM
  • Education Verification: Through school or National Student Clearinghouse for highest level of education; diploma or transcript not acceptable as substitute
  • References: Two supervisory references required; one within last year, second within last 2 years; must be from specialty area
  • Employment History: 7 years of employment history or back to graduation with no gaps over 30 days; verifications required for last 7 years
  • Skills Checklist: Unit-specific skills checklist required, including for float units
  • Mandatory Reporter Training: Must create account through Iowa HHS website and complete Child Abuse and Adult Abuse courses with exams; certifications required

Health & Immunization Requirements

  • Physical Exam: Annual, within 1 year of start, signed by MD, DO, NP, ARNP, or PA
  • Fit Mask Test: Annual; preferred before start but can be done onsite if offsite attempt made; specific 3M N95 mask sizes required
  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap: Vaccination/booster within 10 years or declination acceptable; TD not accepted in lieu of TDaP
  • TB Testing: Negative QuantiFERON gold or TSpot within 90 days of start; chest x-ray if positive; annual TB questionnaire for positives
  • MMR (Rubeola, Mumps, Rubella): Positive titer or proof of 2 live vaccines at least 28 days apart; booster requirements apply
  • Hepatitis B: Completion of 3-dose series, positive IGG titer, or declination form; boosters required if non-reactive or equivocal
  • Varicella: Positive titer or proof of 2 live vaccines at least 28 days apart; booster requirements apply
  • Drug Testing: 10-panel drug screen including THC within 30 days of start
  • Flu Vaccination: Required for flu season (Oct 1 - April/May); vaccination or approved exemption required by Oct 31
  • COVID-19 Vaccine: Preferred but not required as of 7/7/2025

Facility Specific Requirements

  • Online Modules: Must complete all required modules by hard document deadline; currently completed onsite temporarily
  • Exemption Forms: Medical and Religious exemption forms for COVID and Flu vaccinations must be submitted and approved by facility
  • Iowa SING Check: Required within 30 days of start; must be run through Iowa State SING website directly; all aliases must be included

  • Contract length is 13 weeks.
  • Work schedule is Monday through Friday, 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM.
  • Compliance with all background, health, certification, and competency requirements is mandatory prior to start.
