Weekend/Holiday Coverage: Every other weekend/holiday as needed
36-hour contract call required: 24 hours over a 6-week period; must be on premises within 45 minutes of call
Schedule: No guaranteed set schedule
Facility Type: Short Term Acute Care, Teaching Hospital
Total Staffed Beds: 338

Required Certifications

C-EFM (Electronic Fetal Monitoring) through NCC (AWHONN acceptable as placeholder but must register for C-EFM course)
ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA or ARC certified
NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
STABLE
PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) if working in ED or Pediatrics (may be unit dependent)
State Nursing License (Maryland)

Preferred Skills and Experience

Circulate, FHM (Fetal Heart Monitoring), preceptor and/or charge nurse experience
Triage experience preferred
High-risk Labor & Delivery experience

Requirements and Compliance

Two positive supervisory references supporting at least 2 years of experience within the last 3 years
Complete 7 years of work history with no gaps, including education and license information
Criminal background check within 90 days, including multi-state searches and education verification
Drug screen within 90 days of start (excluding marijuana), updated annually
Annual physical exam confirming ability to work without accommodations and free from communicable disease
Immunizations and health documentation required:
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray (annual updates if history positive)
- Tdap vaccine within 10 years preferred
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) documentation or titers
- Varicella documentation or titers
- Hepatitis B titer, series, or signed declination
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved exemption (required during flu season)
- COVID-19 vaccination strongly recommended; declination requires mask use during patient encounters
N95 Fit Test within 9 months of start, updated annually (client may complete on-site)
Medication/Pharmacology competency exam within 3 years, minimum 80% score
Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam required for certain specialties, with remediation if needed
Color blindness testing (online or in-person) required
Annual orientation safety manual acknowledgement

Additional Notes

Must complete facility-specific modules (SITELS) prior to start date
Photo for badge required (clear, well-lit, no shadows, solid background)
Must be able to drive if driving is an essential job function (valid driver's license required)
Must be able to respond to contract call within 45 minutes on-site
Must be willing to float to similar units as needed
