Job Details
- Float: Yes, if needed to Alameda Health System and San Leandro
- Call: As needed during critical events
- Weekends: If needed during critical events
- Unit Details:
- May assist physicians in bedside IND procedures if needed
- May perform wound debridement as needed
- Patient Population: All hospital inpatient units and Emergency Department (ED) within Alameda Health System
- Experience Required: Minimum 2 years
- Accepts 1st Time Travelers: Yes
- Return to Origin (RTO) Requests: One accepted
Required Certifications
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA only
- BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA only
- WOCN (Wound, Ostomy, and Continence Nursing)
Additional certifications may be preferred depending on unit assignment (e.g., PALS, NRP, CHEMO, TNCC, EFM, Management of Assaultive Behavior, NIH Stroke Certification, CPI).
Compliance & Documentation Requirements
Background Checks
- 7-year Nationwide Criminal Background Check (County, State, National) within 90 days prior to start
- EPLS/GSA/SAM check within 90 days of start
- HHS/OIG check within 90 days of start
- Education Verification (3rd party verification of highest education level, no pending status)
Licenses & Certifications Verification
- State License verification within 15 days prior to start, must be current and unencumbered
- NURSYS Verification for RN, LPN/LVN, AP within 15 days prior to start
- Tech Certifications as applicable (e.g., Radiology, Mammography)
- Orientation Safety Manual Acknowledgement required
Health & Immunization Requirements
- Physical Exam within 90 days of start, signed by MD, DO, PA, NP, or APRN confirming good health and ability to perform job duties
- Fit Mask test within 90 days of start (specific approved masks required)
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccination within 10 years or signed declination (TD not accepted)
- Negative TB test or Chest X-Ray updated annually (IGRA or 2 PPDs as specified)
- TB Questionnaire updated annually
- Proof of immunity or vaccination for:
- Rubeola (Measles)
- Mumps
- Rubella
- Hepatitis B (positive titer or declination)
- Varicella
- Drug Testing: Oral saliva drug screen within 30 days of start (rapid tests not accepted)
- Flu Seasonal Vaccination or declination on file by November 6; masking required during flu season (Nov 1 – Mar 31)
- Color Blind Exam within 90 days of start (Ishihara test accepted)
Facility Specific Requirements
- Photo for badge (passport style, no filters)
- Completion of Alameda Health System competencies and New Employee Orientation (NEO) modules on first day of work
- Competencies must be completed by 11:59pm PST on first day; failure to complete within 14 days results in termination
- New competencies required if absent from Alameda Health System for more than 6 months

- Employment verification for past 3 years (3rd party verification acceptable)
- References required per agency standards (not facility requirement)
This position offers a dynamic work environment with opportunities to float across multiple units and assist in specialized procedures. It is suitable for nurses with at least 2 years of experience and appropriate certifications, including first-time travelers. Compliance with extensive background, health, and competency requirements is mandatory.
