Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Opportunity
Location: Springfield, Illinois
Facility Type: Acute Care Hospital, Level I Trauma Center, Magnet Facility
Unit: Intermediate Care (IMC)/General Onsite Telemetry
Position Details
- Shift: 3x12 or 4x12 Night shifts (18:45 - 07:15)
- Average Daily Census: 38 patients
- Experience Required: Minimum 2 years
- First-timers Accepted: Yes
- Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
- On-call: No
- Floating: Yes, within scope to like units as needed
- Block Scheduling: Possible, discuss with manager
- Locals Accepted: Yes, no radius restrictions
- License: Must have active Illinois RN license (no pending licenses accepted)
- Return to Office (RTO) Restrictions: Ideally no more than 5 days
Required Certifications
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA or RQI acceptable
- BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA or RQI acceptable

- Telemetry monitoring (on unit and remote)

- Post Cardiac Angiogram
- Post Myocardial Infarction (MI)
- Pre/Post Cardiac Catheterization and Surgery
- Sheath Removal, TR band management
Gastrointestinal
- Feeding tube care and management
Genitourinary/Renal
- Pre/Post Hemodialysis management
- Renal failure care
IV Therapy / Phlebotomy
- Accessing ports
- Arterial line management
- Blood product administration
- Central line and peripheral line care/management
- PICC line management
- Starting IVs
Medication Management
- Heparin protocols
- Manage cardiac and vasoactive drips (no titration)

- Titrate cardiac and vasoactive drips

Professional Skills

- Previous charge nurse experience preferred
- Cerner electronic health record experience required
- Teaching hospital experience preferred
- Level I trauma experience preferred

Compliance & Documentation Requirements
- Valid/current US Driver’s License or State ID
- Background checks covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years (including SSN trace, national criminal, sex offender, FACIS Level 3)
- EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG checks within 30 days prior to start
- Illinois-specific searches (Department of Corrections, Most Wanted, State Police registries) within 30 days prior to start
- Education verification (degree or transcript)
- Primary source verification of certifications and state license
- Competency exam required for clinical candidates
- Badge photo (color, plain background) required before start
- Signed Code of Conduct
- Physical exam within 1 year of start, including labs within 7 days of contract signing
- Fit mask test required (specific mask types accepted)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year
- TB questionnaire updated annually
- Immunizations or documented immunity for Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitis B, Varicella
- 9-panel drug screen within 30 days of start
- Flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required annually by November 30
- References: 2 professional references required for clinical candidates
- Skills checklist required for clinical candidates
