Job Opportunity: ICU Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)

Location: Chicago, Illinois
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Position Details

• Specialty: Registered Nurse (ICU)
• Shift: 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 AM - 7:30 PM)
• Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend (2 weekends per month)
• Call Requirements: None
• Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week
• Floating: Mandatory float facility; ICU RNs will float between Burn ICU, CCU, Medical ICU, SICU, Neuro ICU, and may float to Medical-Surgical units as needed.
• Orientation: First week includes orientation and precepting on day shift.

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Illinois
• Minimum 2 years of recent ICU (Intensive Care Unit) experience, including experience within the last year
• Experience in Burn ICU, Coronary Care Unit (CCU), Medical Intensive Care Unit (MICU), Neuro ICU, and Surgical Intensive Care Unit (SICU)
• BLS (Basic Life Support) certification issued by the American Heart Association
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification issued by the American Heart Association
• NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
• Experience in an acute care setting

Additional Requirements

• Time Off (RTO): Maximum 5 days off with no more than 2 consecutive days; no time off allowed on holidays, weekends, or the day before/after a holiday.
• Background Checks: Comprehensive background checks required, including criminal, employment, and education verifications.
• Health Documents:

  • Physical exam within 12 months, signed by PA, NP, DO, or MD
  • Fit mask test (N95 or equivalent) within 1 year, required annually
  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccine within 10 years or signed declination
  • Negative TB test (QGold or TSPOT) within 12 months, updated annually
  • Immunizations: Measles, Mumps, Rubella (2 MMR vaccines or positive titer), Varicella (2 vaccines or positive titer), Hepatitis B series or declination
  • Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season (Oct 1 - Apr 1)
• Drug Testing: Negative 9-panel drug screen within 90 days of start, updated annually
• Competency Exams: Medication test/pharmacology, color blindness, and general competency exams required within 12 months of start
