Job Opportunity: CVOR Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)

Location: Cedar Rapids, Iowa
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Summary

Seeking a Registered Nurse for the Cardiovascular Operating Room (CVOR) team. The role involves working in a busy OR with 17 rooms, serving adolescent, adult, and geriatric populations. The nurse will assist with cardiac cases and must be proficient in cardiac care.

Required Experience

• Minimum of 2 years CVOR experience (highest required specialty experience)
• Prior travel experience: Not explicitly required

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Iowa
• Minimum of 2 years CVOR experience, with at least some experience within the last year
• ACLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
• BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
• Associate of Science in Nursing or Associate Degree in Nursing
• Experience working with adolescent, adult, and geriatric patient populations
• Experience with Epic electronic health record system

Certifications (Must Have)

• BLS (Basic Life Support)
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) recommended for OR settings

Additional Requirements

• Compliance with background checks and verifications (including 7-year county checks, national and federal checks, sex offender search, etc.) within 30 days of assignment start
• Education verification and diploma/transcript required
• Drug screening (10-panel including THC) within 30 days of start
• Annual physical exam or statement of health signed by MD, DO, NP, ARNP, or PA
• Fit mask test within 12 months (3M-N95 mask sizes required)
• Immunizations and titers: Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap, Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitis B, Varicella, TB testing (QuantiFERON gold or TSpot within 90 days)
• Mandatory reporter certification for Iowa (Child Abuse and Dependent Adult Abuse training)
• Unit-specific competency exams with minimum 80% pass rate
• Skills checklist for assigned and float units
• References: 2 supervisory references required, at least one within the last year, both from the specialty area

Job Duties

• Assist in patient positioning and safety
• Maintain sterile field and aseptic technique
• Monitor and check surgical equipment during procedures
• Document pertinent information in the electronic health record (EHR)
• Handle specimens accurately and safely
• Participate in surgical time-outs and post-procedure debriefings
• Communicate patient care issues promptly to the interdisciplinary team

• Core competency exams and medication/pharmacology competency exams required annually with a minimum score of 80%
• HIPAA training and orientation safety manual acknowledgment required annually

This position is ideal for experienced CVOR Registered Nurses looking for a travel contract in a high-volume, multidisciplinary operating room environment.
