PICU Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Job - California, Madera

Position Details

• Contract Length: 13 weeks
• Shift: Night shift, 3 shifts per week, 11.5 hours each (7:00 PM to 7:30 AM)

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in California
• Minimum 1 year of Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) experience within the last year
• BLS (Basic Life Support) issued by the American Heart Association
• PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) issued by the American Heart Association
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)

Compliance and Background Checks

• 7-year criminal background check required within 30 days of start, including all counties lived/worked and sex offender registry.
• EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start.
• Copy of diploma/transcripts or education verification required (may start with pending verification).
• Negative 10-panel drug screen within 6 months of start.
• Physical exam within 1 year of start (required for Aya placements only).
• Fit mask test required within 6 months of start; facility offers onsite testing if needed.
• Respirator clearance form or equivalent required and must be current.
• Immunizations and titers required:

  • Tdap vaccine within 10 years of start.
  • Negative TB test (PPD, Qgold, or Tspot) within 1 year of start or chest x-ray if history of positive TB.
  • Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella titers or vaccinations as per facility policy.
  • Hepatitis B titer, vaccine series, or declination form.
  • Varicella titer, vaccine, or documented disease history.
  • Seasonal flu vaccine or approved medical/religious exemption form required during flu season (Oct-April).
• COVID vaccines preferred but not required.

Orientation and Facility Requirements

• Candidate must review and sign facility-specific orientation guide, confidentiality agreement, and other policy documents (e.g., dress code, harassment-free workplace, IT acceptable use).
• Complete orientation guide post-test prior to start.
• Complete non-employee personal information sheet.
• Review medication test study guide prior to start.
• Submit medical or religious influenza exemption forms if applicable.

Competency Requirements

• Medication/pharmacology competency exam required with passing score of 80% or higher.
• Additional competency exams as applicable to specialty.

Additional Notes

• No prior travel experience explicitly required.
• Employment application and skills checklist not required for subcontractors.
• Facility-specific compliance audit and final clearance will be conducted.
