Job Opportunity: Case Manager (Registered Nurse)
Location: Lancaster, South Carolina
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
As a Nurse Case Manager (RN), you will:
- Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team to assess, plan, implement, monitor, and evaluate patient care needs.
- Provide comprehensive ongoing case management services to coordinate care across the continuum.
- Ensure optimal patient outcomes focusing on quality, service, customer satisfaction, and cost-effectiveness.
- Assist patients and families in coping with illness by supporting self-care abilities and consumer rights.
Patient Ratio: 1:22
Shift: 5 days a week, 8-hour shifts (8:00 AM - 4:30 PM)
Weekend Requirement: One 8-hour shift per month
On-call: Not required
Floating: No floating outside scope of practice
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in South Carolina
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
- Minimum 2 years of experience in Acute Care Case Management, including experience within the last year
- ACLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
- BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification
- Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) certification
- Electronic Fetal Monitoring (EFM) certification
Additional Information
- First-time travelers are accepted.
- Facility follows a 60-mile radius rule; local candidates may be considered on a case-by-case basis.
- Facility may call off 1 shift per 2 weeks.
- During hurricane season (June through November), all staff may be assigned to emergency response teams. Travelers should consider this before accepting assignments during peak months (August and September).
Required Documentation & Compliance
- Proof of work eligibility (I-9 form)
- Copy of Driver’s License/State ID
- Social Security Card or SSN verification
- Background checks including:
- 7-year history with SSN trace, statewide, national criminal, sex offender registry, and FACIS 3
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks updated every 30 days after start
- Education verification or diploma/transcripts as placeholder if needed
- State-specific searches (South Carolina Medicaid Excluded Providers)
- Clinical references (2 required)
- Employment application/resume
- Skills checklist updated annually
Certifications & Competencies
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) required for all RNs except Nursery
- BLS (Basic Life Support) required for all clinical candidates
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) required as applicable (e.g., ER)
- TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) required except for ER RNs
- NIH Stroke Certification required for ER and Med Surg units, updated annually
- Medication/Pharmacology competency exams as applicable
- IV Therapy certification if applicable (for select LPNs)
Health & Safety Requirements
- Physical exam within 1 year attesting ability to meet job demands
- Immunizations and titers:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years or declination)
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella (positive titer or 2 vaccines; boosters if low titer)
- Hepatitis B (titer, vaccine series, or declination)
- Varicella (positive titer or 2 vaccines; boosters if low titer)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 90 days of start (T-spot or Q-Gold preferred)
- Annual TB questionnaire completion
- Drug screening: 10-panel urine drug screen within 90 days of start (no instant tests)
- Seasonal flu vaccination or medical/religious exemption required during flu season (Aug 1 - Apr 30)
- COVID-19 vaccination highly preferred; declination form required if not vaccinated
Facility Specifics
- Charting system: Epic
- Parking: No cost
- Scrub color: Hunter Green
- Orientation modules required prior to start (approx. 2 hours)
- Photo for badge required (passport-style, frontal view)
- Various signed agreements and acknowledgments required before start (e.g., Code of Conduct, Confidentiality Agreement, Safety Codes)
Notes
- Radiation badge required only for specific roles (e.g., OR RNs), not for this position.
- All certifications must be valid beyond 30 days from start date; renewals required if expiring soon.
- Travelers must upload vaccination and flu documentation into the facility’s system prior to start.
- Facility may accommodate block scheduling with prior approval (not guaranteed).
