Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse - PICU

Location: Chicago, Illinois
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Position Details

Specialty: Registered Nurse (PICU)
Shift: 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 PM - 7:30 AM)
Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend (2 weekends per month)
Call Requirements: None
Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week
Floating: Mandatory float within scope as needed by the facility
Local Candidates: Accepted and preferred within a 75-mile radius
Time Off (RTO): Maximum 5 days, no more than 2 consecutive; no time off on or around holidays or weekends

Required Qualifications

Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Illinois
Minimum 2 years of Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) nursing experience, including experience within the last year
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
Bystander Intervention Training Certificate
Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)

Scrub color: Any color allowed

Health and Compliance Requirements

Physical exam within 12 months, signed by PA, NP, DO, or MD
Fit mask test (N95 or equivalent) within 1 year, annual renewal required
Immunizations/vaccinations required:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years or signed declination)
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella (2 MMR vaccines or positive titer)
- Varicella (2 vaccines or positive titer)
- Hepatitis B series, titer, or signed declination
Negative TB test (QGold or TSPOT) within 12 months, updated annually
Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season
Negative 9-panel drug screen within 90 days of start, updated annually

Background and Documentation

Background check within 12 months covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years
Federal and state exclusion lists (EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG) within 30 days of start
Illinois Healthcare Worker Registry verification (not required for RNs)
Various facility-specific forms and competency exams required prior to start
Competency exams including medication/pharmacology and color blindness testing required within 12 months of start

Additional Notes

No prior travel experience required for this position
Locals preferred but travel nurses are welcome
Floating is mandatory as per facility policy
