Job Opportunity: Stepdown Cardiac Registered Nurse (RN)
Location: Durham, North Carolina
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 10 weeks
Position Overview
- Role: Registered Nurse in Stepdown/Cardiac Telemetry unit
- Schedule: 8-week blocked rotating days and nights
- Shifts: 3 shifts per week including 2 Mondays and/or Fridays
- Weekend Requirement: 2 weekend shifts per 4 weeks
- Floating: PCU/Stepdown/IMCU units
- On-Call: Yes
- Blocked Scheduling: Not open to blocked scheduling
- First-time travelers and local candidates are welcome
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in North Carolina
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
- Minimum 2 years of Cardiac Stepdown experience, with at least 1 year within the last year
- Minimum 2 years of Cardiac Telemetry experience
- Experience with Epic electronic health record system
- ACLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
- BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
Orientation & Training
- Orientation sessions held bi-weekly
- Scrub color: Royal Blue
Compliance & Documentation Requirements
- Background checks including SSN trace, county searches, sex offender, and education verification
- Drug testing: Negative 10-panel drug screen (including THC) within 30 days of start
- Health documents:
- Physical exam within 12 months
- Immunizations and titers for Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitis B, Varicella, Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap, Polio
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months
- Flu vaccination for the current season (declinations not accepted)
- References: Two professional references from employment within the last 12 months (at least one supervisor)
- Employment application and skills checklist updated annually
- Facility-specific competencies and exams required
Additional Notes
- Candidates must set up a guest account prior to clearance to access orientation and work systems
- Candidates with less than a 30-day gap from a previous assignment may have some documentation accepted on file
- Color blind testing and competency exams may be required depending on unit specifics
- Pass/fail testing on EKG/medication knowledge is required at orientation (except for RRTs)
