Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse - Cardiac Telemetry
Location: Stockbridge, Georgia
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 14 weeks
Job Summary
Seeking an experienced Registered Nurse for a cardiac telemetry unit caring for adult to geriatric patients. This role requires managing complex cardiac patients with various drips and arrhythmias in an intermediate care setting.
Required Experience
- Minimum 1 year of nursing experience in the specialty (Cardiac Telemetry)
- Prior travel experience required (1st time travelers not accepted)
- Experience with cardiac drips including: Amiodarone, Cardizem, Dobutamine, Dopamine, Milrinone, Nitroglycerin
- Experience with diuretics: Bumex, Lasix
- Experience with anticoagulants: Aggrastat, Argatroban, Heparin
- Experience with insulin drips
Patient Population
- Adults to Geriatrics
Certifications Required
- Basic Life Support (BLS)
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
Clinical Skills and Work Setting
- Overflow Intermediate Medical Care Unit (IMCU)
- Arrhythmia management including cardioversion
- Care for patients with cardiac CHF, chest pain, renal, pulmonary conditions (COPD, pulmonary edema), pulmonary embolism (PE), deep vein thrombosis (DVT)
- Management of stable cardiac arrhythmias (A-Fib, SVT, Bradycardia)
- Surgical patient care including cholecystectomy, appendectomy, chest tubes, biliary drains
- Occasional vascular patients, post cardiac catheterization, TR bands, diabetic ketoacidosis (DKA)
- Occasional orthopedic or cerebrovascular accident (CVA) patient overflow (transferred ASAP)
- Basic arrhythmia knowledge required
Workload and Environment
- Nurse to patient ratio: 1:5-6
- Unit size: 32 beds
- Unit systems: Epic (preferred), Pyxis, SBAR communication
- Scrub color: Navy Blue
- Floating within facility as needed and within scope of practice
- Call is rare; response time 2 hours; travelers typically do not manage Precedex
- Weekend shifts typically every other weekend; travelers fill in gaps after permanent staff scheduling
- Holiday work expectations: If 1 major holiday falls during assignment, must work it; if 2 holidays, must work both; if 3 holidays, must work 2
Orientation and Compliance
- Maximum return-to-orientation (RTO) time: 7 days per contract
- Full compliance with onboarding requirements required to start on time; delays may result in 2-week pushback due to bi-weekly orientation schedule
Required Documentation and Compliance (Summary)
- Valid Georgia RN license verified within 30 days prior to start
- Annual Nursys verification within 30 days prior to start
- Background check completed within 30 days prior to start
- Education verification of nursing degree (can be pending with proof of processing)
- Physical exam within 12 months prior to start
- Negative TB test or chest x-ray within 12 months (with additional requirements if prior positive)
- Required immunizations or titers: MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella), Varicella, Hepatitis B (or declination), Tdap (highly recommended)
- Negative 10-panel drug screen within 60 days prior to start
- Flu vaccination or signed declination required during flu season
- Skills checklist updated within 12 months
- Medication/pharmacology competency exam required
- Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam required (max 3 attempts allowed)
- Color blindness test required
- References: 2 clinical references required

- Non-billable orientation hours depend on contract length
Requirements/Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Georgia
- Telemetry nursing experience of at least 1 year, with telemetry experience within the last year
- Completion of at least one travel nursing assignment
- Current ACLS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- Current BLS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- Nursys verification for RN, LPN/LVN, or AP
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Minimum 1 year of nursing experience overall
- Prior experience with cardiac drips including: Amiodarone, Cardizem, Dobutamine, Dopamine, Milrinone, Nitroglycerin
- Prior experience with diuretic drips: Bumex, Lasix
- Prior experience with anticoagulant drips: Aggrastat, Argatroban
- Prior experience with insulin drips
