Job Opportunity: Step Down Registered Nurse

Location: Saint Joseph, Missouri

Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Details

• Unit: Surgical Stepdown
• Shift: Night (3 shifts per week, 12 hours each; 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM)
• Hours per week: 36
• Float may be required to units of similar or lower acuity as needed
• Local candidates accepted within a 50-mile radius at a reduced rate

Required Qualifications

• Specialty: Registered Nurse (Step Down)
• Minimum Experience: 2 years in specialty
• Education: BSN preferred
• Licensure: Valid RN state license or compact state licensure for Missouri
• Certifications (must be current and from AHA or approved equivalent):

  • BLS (Basic Life Support)
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
• Pending license acceptable if obtained prior to start
• Additional certifications required depending on unit assignment:

  • TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) for Emergency Department and ICU (only if on assignment past 1 year)
  • NIH Stroke Certification (annual) for specified units including Stepdown and ICU
• Basic Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam required with a passing score of 84% or higher (ICU has a one-attempt policy)
• Medication/Pharmacology competency exams as applicable
• IV Certification required for LPNs (must be valid in Missouri or accepted by Missouri)

Background and Compliance Requirements

• Background check within 30 days of start including:

  • National criminal check
  • State and county searches (10 years, all aliases)
  • SSN trace with all aliases
  • National Sex Offender check
  • FACIS Level 3
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks
• Education verification with official transcript or diploma
• Missouri EDL Search within 30 days of start
• Primary source verification of state license and certifications within 30 days of start
• Drug screen within 30 days of start (includes multiple substances)
• Physical exam within last 12 months (not required annually)
• Fit mask testing completed onsite at orientation
• Immunizations/vaccinations or documented immunity required:

  • Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella (2 MMR vaccines or positive titer or declination)
  • Hepatitis B (vaccination series, titer, or declination)
  • Varicella (2 vaccines, positive titer, or declination)
  • Seasonal Flu vaccine required during flu season or agency-approved medical/religious exemption (mask required if exempt)

Facility and Orientation Requirements

• Charting system: EPIC
• Free parking available
• Required to review and sign:

  • Confidentiality Agreement
  • Code of Conduct and Acknowledgement
• Must complete demographic form prior to start
• Complete agency nurse orientation quiz with a minimum score of 84% before starting
• AVADE training required onsite for RN and LPN candidates in certain units if extending past initial contract (includes online pre-work and in-person skills validation)
