Registered Nurse - MS/Tele/Neuro

Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Description

• Work schedule options: alternating 3x12s and 4x12s every other week, or straight 4x12s (no straight 3x12 schedules)
• Patient population: Neuro/Stroke, Vascular Surgeries, Multi-Level Back Surgeries, CABG, ECMO
• Nurse-to-patient ratio: 1:6
• Weekend shifts required
• No on-call duties
• Float required
• Holiday shifts required (at least 2 of 3 holidays)

Required Experience & Skills

• Minimum 2 years experience in Medical-Surgical, Telemetry, or Neuro nursing (use highest required: 2 years)
• Strong Neuro nursing skills required
• Epic electronic health record experience required
• Skills in interpretation and management of dysrhythmias, cerebrovascular accidents (CVA), pre/post neuro surgery care, spinal cord injuries, and traumatic brain injuries

Required Certifications

• BLS (Basic Life Support)
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
• NIH Stroke Certification

Preferred Certification:

• CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute)

Additional Information

• Return to Office (RTO) time less than 5 days or add time to end of contract
• Scrubs: Navy and white combo

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license for Louisiana
• Background check within 6 months covering all locations lived/worked/schooled in past 7 years
• Drug screening within 30 days of start (10-panel or as required)
• Immunizations and health documents including:

  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years)
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray per guidelines
  • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titer
  • Hepatitis B series, titer, or declination
  • Varicella vaccination or positive titer
  • Seasonal flu vaccination/documentation (required Oct 1 – March 31; exemptions accepted)
• Competency exams including medication/pharmacology, dysrhythmia/EKG, and core competencies updated annually
• Employment application with 7 years of work history, no gaps over 30 days

Schedule & Work Environment

• No straight 3x12 shifts; options include alternating 3x12 and 4x12 shifts or straight 4x12 shifts
• Weekend and holiday coverage required
• Float assignments expected
• No on-call responsibilities

Prior Travel Experience

• No explicit prior travel experience required stated

This position is ideal for experienced Neuro/Telemetry RNs comfortable with complex neurological and cardiovascular patient care in a fast-paced environment.
